Thanks for dropping by and checking out our blog! We, at Breastcancer.org (or BCO, as we affectionately refer to ourselves) are thrilled to finally be a part of the blogosphere!
So, you may ask, why does a nonprofit organization like BCO have a blog? There are a few reasons:
- We want you, our visitors, to get to know us better. We are staffed by a truly interesting cast of characters — passionate, tireless, and committed to you, the breast cancer community.
- We want to get to know YOU better… so please comment. Tell us how we’re doing. Compliment or constructively criticize, share your stories, suggest blog topics…
- Over the years, we have met so many amazing people (husbands, patients, medical experts). We want to share some of their stories with you. And we hope you will share their stories with other people.
- Blogs are a great hybrid of the information we already offer here at BCO. We have over 6,000 pages of medically reviewed content and extremely active discussion boards. This blog will offer a cross-section of those information types.
Some topics you will see covered here: nutrition, inspiration, family, risk reduction, survivor stories, staff stories, humor, and many many more.
We are really looking forward to the dialogue!

Hi, my mum is having boob off next week, but now they have said the lymph nodes need removing completely. She is 78 and in good health. Can she cope? Can i cope?
Thank-you-looking forward to more information from behind the frontlines of BCO. Thank goodness for this website, it is a godsend.

I cannot believe I just caught wind of BCO’s blogging.
… I do not search the entire site like I used to. Now, I am busy on the discussion boards helping in anyway that I can. It is my way of giving back.. paying it forward.
I just wanted to post, I think the blog is a great idea. Thank you!
Laura
How wonderful to hear you’ve been helping folks out in the Discussion Boards – thank you! – but we’re glad you’ve found us over here, too. We hope to continue to hear from you!
At 86 you came for my grandmother and the same year you came for her stepdaughter. At 71 you came for my mother-in-law and again when she was 81. At 35 you came for two of my friends and again came for them when they turned 40. At 56 you came for another friend and now at 76, you have come for my mother. I ask, when are you coming for me? When will you come for my daughters? I hate you breast cancer, when will we find what causes you and end you?
Thank you for the information and the chat the other night. It helped me determine that the treatment I was receiving was doing more harm than good. Even tho it lasts for about a month and will clear after that–I appreciated hearing and reading what others have to say about tamoxifen. There is QOL that must be considered in all of these treatements. It is a good site and thank you. Courage to all who are fighting this ever growing disease. GBWY.
