I had a bone scan after chemo and there was a singular hot spot on one rib. The doctors tell me not to worry....What else could it be?
Thanks,

Sharon - have you ever broken a rib, fractured, or bruised one? That would show up. Arthritis? Since they told you not to worry, don't, but you are certainly entitled to know why it showed "hot". I too had a bone scan just prior to my chemo (just started a week ago with first treatment) and my kneecaps showed up "hot"! I asked the onc and she said it was osteo-arthritis. Good luck and call them to dispel your worry.

WORRY WORRY WORRY. Doctors told me the same thing... told me it was arthritis. I listened and now I'm stage IV. Request a bone scan, blood, and bone biopsy. If he looks at you like your nuts, find someone who will listen. If it comes back ok, thats great you'll sleep better at night, if not, you'll never live in regret. I keep beating up on mysel with the what if's and the shoulda woulda coulda. Let me know how it goes!

Don't worry, just be careful. It probably is arthritis, I was told by a physical therapist that everyone over the age of 35 will have signs of arthritis show up on scans, even if they don't have symptoms. How about asking for a follow-up scan in 3 or 6 months? This is what my husband did when he had lung nodules show up on an unrelated scan -- the follow-up showed no change, which meant b9. You could ask for a biopsy but that might be too invasive if the radiologists think by looking at thescan that it is arthritis. A follow-up scan would tell you the same info, I believe.

HI. I had a hot spot on rib and was told that it was probably a bruised rib or old fracture. It was four years ago when I had original diagnosis. I have not had any recurrence yet. So, I guess it was probably just what they said. Best wishes,
Wendy
