My hematologist found two very large swollen lymph nodes, on my right side, today; they are very painful.  She said the size is significantly larger than her thumb nail and stuck to the skin.  She also made me an appt with a surgeon for this Thursday.  Thinking I may not be sleeping very well for the next few days.  Anyone else expereince anything like this and it was only an infection.  My doc said she has no idea of what it could be except extremely swollen lymph nodes caused by breast cancer.

I had a lymph node that was swollen on the back of my neck.  The reason I knew that it was ther was because it was sore.  I had an appointment with my primary so I told him about it.  The soreness had gone away, but the node was still enlarged.  He said we could have it biopsied (no thank you), or wait for two weeks, come back and check it again.  I tried not to check it everyday..keep hands off...I told myself.  Then, I noticed it was getting smaller.  By the time I saw him again it was gone.  I don't know what caused it.  I wasn't sick.no cold..no sore throat..no nothing.  The only thing I could figure out is I had some dental work done and wondered if that was what caused it.

Try hard not to worry so much.  How long has it been there?  When you see the surgeon he will know what to do.  Maybe by then it'll be all gone!

I'll be checking back to see how you are doing.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference

On a positive note, there are many reasons for lymph nodes to become swollen.  They are designed to fight off infection.  I pray that is what they are doing for you right now.  Tammy

I did have a prophylactic mastectomy 2 1/2 yrs. ago on the right side.  Got my implants for both sides at that time.  No fever, that's why the doc was so concerned and no recent illness nor carrying anything.

There are two painful, tender spots axillary lymph nodes (each one about 1 inch across); that are red, raised, matted areas under the skin, feeling like clumps of pebbles
