Im not sure where I belong. I fall between IIb and IIIa. I did DD 4AC-4T neoadjuvant chemo and still had 2 positive lymph nodes at surgery making it 3/8. The onc stated that we do not know if I have more nodes active before chemo. So I might be IIb or I might be IIIa. Did anyone do neoadjuvant and still have positive nodes? I posted this several weeks back on IDC board, but am still obsessing about it.

I just tried to post some abstract from this years St Gallens Conference for you. IT WONT OPEN!!!! <sigh> Basically it said that doing a SLNB at the time of surgery for patients who had neoadjuvant chemo, is just as accurate if done before chemo. AND...a cPR (complete path response) is mostly seen with ER- patients (20%). Soooooo...it is not uncommon to still have the positive nodes. We all obsess about the number of nodes involved or whatever, but in the end everything is a craps shoot. I think tour starting rads soon, then some anti hormonal pill ..possibly Zometa? You have a lot of arsenal behind you. I think you will be good. Dx: Sep 2007, IDC 8cm, 0/6 nodes, ACT Chemo, R Mastectomy, 1 yr Herceptin, 28 Rads,Currently on Lupron, Tamox & Zometa. Hi Pam I understand you want to be on threads that offer medical information/encouragement, but there are some "fun" threads with some great ladies who meet up everyday and just share "stuff"....housecleaning, animals, babies, funny stores, etc. You might want to check some of them out : Housecleaning Thread Awwwhh,...now that's cute..... Life is a Beach..... ....just to name a few, but there are plenty of others under "growing friendships". etc. Even on these threads, breast cancer is our ever-present bond, but we do try to have fun and talk about other things. You're welcome to join anytime!! Hugs! ~ One day at a time ~

Hi Pam - you belong with me and the other gals and everyone!!! We ae in thye same boat. I hope you will forgive me if I don't post more just now as I have a friend coming for supper, but I know a little bit about nodes and will try to come back tomorrow. The skinny is - its complex and being node free wouldn't mean that no further difficulties are ever encountered. Take good care - warm hugs - Virginia.

Well, same for me. I had first lumpect. with 2 nodes + out of 2 taken out. I had Chemo after, and then mastect. The path after the mastect. plus 5 more nodes taken out, said NO MORE cancer, but realityis that I might had more nodes involved since I had chemo after first surgery. Anyhow, we will never know, but right now I am ned, rads finished and on Tamoxofin. Carol, lumpect. 4xA/C 4xTAX, Mast. in Aug. 2009, Rad. Tamox
