Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that my sister's surgery went okay yesterday. She has a badly shattered right leg from a ski accident three years ago. (Basically it looks like someone took a hammer to her bone between the knee and ankle.) They tried using a cadaver bone but her body rejected that. Then they took bone from her hip and put that into the area. That didn't work either. This time they took bone from the hip and gave her a growth hormone shot to try to improve the results. Keep your fingers crossed that the third time is the charm. Her doctors felt that everything went well but she still has months of waiting for the bones to grow and knit together.

Thanks, Hattie. It's so scary as her physical therapist was the one who found her latest break. She has all kinds of metal rods in the leg and one of them masked the break. They found it when she was sent for a CT scan. Plus she is 51 and bones don't heal as well as when we were teenagers.

makes you so tired wish they could give her better pain management, she would heal faster if she wasn't wore out from the pain.
