Hello All. It is quite possible this topic already exists under some forum - but I'm not easily finding it. I was hoping anyboy who is already quite family with the breastcancer.org could steer (I can't spell anymore and am not even trying to.......) me in the direction of information regarding misbillings from hospitals, fighting hospitals for bills that they have not correctly submitted to our insurance carriers, legal organizations that can help people without the financial resources to hire a lawyer and fight misbillings, etc. This is a depressing topic, but I feel that it is becoming more and more common to have to fight with your insurance company to get coverage for supposed 100% covered procedures.
Essentially, I have halfway decent insurance, but because of my hospital's (a non-profit also) unwillingness to communicate with my my insurer I am getting directly and incorrectly billed for large bills. I am 2/3 of the way through chemo and can barely make it to work let enough fight with corporations. Any guidance for me for sites or organizations I can research for help?
Thank you.

I am fighting the same thing, and honestly, this is exhausting. I did speak with the "head booker" at the hospital where my bill got screwed up royally (incorrect coding....oh, what a shock!), and asked her to FAX it to the insurance company with the correct coding on there. I was so angry this morning, that the phrase "legal council" slipped out. I spoke with my doctor's office (bless their hearts, they are soooooooooo calm), and they said that they did see where it has been faxed to the insurance and corrections FINALLY made. The only thing I can suggest is talking to the "head guy" at your hospital's billing office, and see if they can fax any corrections. In my case, if I can't get results, I will be contacting the HR office. Hopefully, someone else can give you sites that you the information that you need. Just came across this thread today, and wanted to post a link I also came across this week (and saved) that might have what you're after: I believe this appeared in a thread called Pink: Not Just For Pepto Bismol Anymore, which is about corporate pinking. In response to a query about non-profits that use donations wisely, the poster shared this amazing list of resources she's assembled, and I seem to recall someone on it specifically helping with insurance claims. Good luck, and let us know if you find the resource you're after ~ Deanna Dx 2/1/2008, 1cm, Stage IIa, Grade 2, 1/16 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- |
