Hi -
I'm nearing the end of my treatment - for the second time. I've been amazingly blessed to have received so much help from friends, family and co-workers. In one case a substantial amount of money was raised to help with meals, and there's frankly more than I feel comfortable using and want to donate the remainder.
Ideally, I'd like to find an organization that provides direct financial assistance to women undergoing treatment, for them to use for meals, childcare, or even for medical care. My first preference would be something in the DC Metro area, but I'd be happy to find any reputable local organization.
Can you please let me know of any organizations fitting this description?
Thanks!

Maybe calling your local health department would be a way of finding what the legitimate organizations are in your area? So nice to see that you have had support from friends and family. I hope all continues well. dcis, idc, pagets er+,pr+ her2+++

Would like to suggest this small charity, run by an unpaid survivor, that is targeted specifically at helping women keep afloat during treatment. http://breastcancersisterhood.com/ Deb is a sweetie, her charity does good stuff on a personal scale. Sue - Lucky to be Krista's Mom

Hi! I'm freaking out about medical expenses. I have Medicare that covers 80% of everything except for medication. I am responsible for the other 20%. I've been on Social Security Disability for 6 or 7 years. I was just about to get full insurance from Aetna when I received my diagnosis...now, of course, NO insurance. What can I do about the 20% financial exposure I face? Thanks....I hope, as I write this in the very wee hours of the morning, those of you who are suffering with anxiety and depression are doing OK. Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions. Breast Cancer Sisterhood looks exactly like the type of organization I was looking for, but I'll check with ACS, too. Thanks! Sharingwithu - I'm so incredibly sorry to hear of your situation. I wonder if calling the American Cancer Society would lead to other options? Best of luck to you.
