Busy hands keeps our minds off of many problems.  If we make things for others we are even doing something good.  I love crafts and hope to find other like minded people full of ideas and post their crafts that they make.  I have made a few since retirement and I think I will post them all here and hope others join me.

This thread seems to be inactive for the most part.  My newest project involved some lamps that I got for free.  The first one was tall, with a thin neck and a rounded bottom (almost 50's).  There is a swirl in the design.  It was off white with dirty base.  I painted in orange, dry brushed gold over it and repainted the base in gold.  I love it!  The second is just a smidge smaller and looks like it has mosiac tiles on it - the colors were kind of muted so I painted those rows of tiles in black, turquoise and copper with the inbetween rows painted antique gold.  Love it too!

Anyone else doing any crafts?

I have been working on a knitted afghan for my daughter to take to college. It is done in squares with tweeds, checks, lots of cable patterns, Fair Isle, and argyle. Colors include rust, burgundy, brown, tan, gold, gray, and purple. I have 17 squares to go. I will have to post a pic when I get it done. I have knit my way through breast cancer (my 3rd cancer diagnosis), with many projects auctioned and raffled off last year to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (I have a Light the Night team as I am a 25 year leukemia survivor and now have a secondary blood cancer). It makes the time go quicker during treatments, and helps to keep my creative side nourished.

Laura, God bless you! The afghan sounds gorgeous.

Kathleen I like the sounds of the lamps.

I just learned how to crochet, so I am having fun doing squares for the girls here at bco that make hugaghans for those who need them. So far I have made a winter scarf, a dressy scarf, granny squared and some flowers. I am really enjoying it.

My 18 year old daughter has been yearning to learn how to make granny squares. She picked up knitting from me 5 years ago, and was the one who got me sucked into knitting socks. One of our favorite things to do is to spend a day at yarn stores. One of these days we will get brave and venture on line to learn crocheting...

So, the afghan is officially done. It is for my daughter to take to college this fall. Made of Super Wash Wool so will keep her warm through the Akron winters.

It is a beautiful Afghan, love the button/tab accents.

I have been busy crocheting snowflakes, since I took an order for 4 doz snowflakes and 6 angels in April, I have 2 doz snowflakes crocheted. At least I have until Thanksgiving to get them done.

I have completed the 4 dz snowflakes, at least the crocheting part. now is the time to wash, dry, soak in the stiffening solution and pin them out to dry.

Laural - Good luck on your thyroid biopsies.  Mine also lit up on the PET but the biopsies were B9.  I pray yours are also.  I absolutely love the afghan you made for your daughter.
