Amazing Grace, partly because when my children were infants, I did not know many lullibys and that becamoe one for me...many sweet moments from good days with that song. I also was drawn to a song by Snow Patrol called Chasing Cars, esp the chorus that is "If I lay here, If I just lay here, will you lay with me and just forget the world" It was /is special on several levels---me & my husband, me and God. Being held by sweet strong arms, everything would be ok with just us two. Laura- love the words, esp the chorus (what is with me and the chorus?) LOVE THIS THREAD!!! I have soooooo many favorites... was brought up on the old hymns and love the new contemporary music also. While my sister was in hospice last fall we listened to this one alot together... song by Amy Grant... Be still my soul The Lord is on thy side Bear patiently, the cross of grief or pain Leave to thy God, to order and provide In every change, He faithfully will remains Be still my soul Thy best thy Heavenly Friend Through thorny ways Leads to a joyful end Be still my soul, they God doth undertake To guide the future as he has the past Thy hope thy confidence let nothing shake All now mysterious will be bright at last Delight yourselves in the Lord, and yes find your joy in Him. Be known for your gentleness and never forget the nearness of our God. And, don't worry...whatever is to come...just tell God every detail, and the peace of God that no one understands, will come to you. No, don't worry...just tell HIM every detail and HIS peace will come to you. Dx 2/24/2009, DCIS, 1cm, Stage IIa, Grade 1, 2/22 nodes, ER+/PR-, HER2- |

God spoke to a friend of mine at church the day before my bi-lat MX. Our praise team was singing this song and HE told my friend that I needed to hear this song before my surgery. She bought the CD in our church bookstore and came the next morning and set up her cd player with the music at just the right volume and just at that time my PS walked in to draw on my chest for my MX....God is so good and HE is all knowing...HE knew that this music would comfort me during this time....and it sure did. My friend just moved this week to another state and I am so sad. She blessed me with her presence and she will bless the people in her new community. I am so thankful that she listens to God's voice. Thank you Susan...I love you.... ALL MY PRAISE by Selah Holy, my God, You are worthy of all my praise. Holy, my God, You are worthy of all my praise. I will follow You through green pastures and sing Hallelujah to Your name. I will follow You through dark disaster and sing Hallelujah through the pain. And even in the shadow of death, I will praise You. And even in the valley I will say - Holy, my God, You are worthy of all my praise. Holy, my God, you are worthy of all my praise. You are seated on Your throne in Heaven and You see all of us down here. You have promised You will not abandon, so I shall not fear. You made every star and You taught it how to shine. You knew my name before there was time. All this was just part of Your glorious design. Hallelujah, Hallelujah Holy, my God, You are worthy of all my praise. Holy, my God, You are worthy of all my praise. I get emotional every time I hear this song. There were more songs on this CD (by our praise team at my church) that really touched me......but this is the one that God said I needed. PS I just posted this song on my Facebook page..... Don't deny the diagnosis, but defy the verdict.........

This isn't a hymn, but I heard this song during the long wait between my routine mammogram picking something up and weeks of waiting on MRI results, biopsy and then facing a mastectomy. I wanted to run away rather than face that surgery and during that time found this song "Savior Please" by Josh Wilson. The music is really lovely and here are the lyrics - it got me through one of the hardest 6 weeks of my life and sometimes it was the only prayer I could pray - I hope it comforts you: Savior, please take my hand Dx 5/12/2009, IDC, 2cm, Stage II, Grade 2, 3/16 nodes, ER+/PR-, HER2- |
