There is a young lady (29 years old) who is a friend of my best friend. She got married a year and a half ago and was pregnant with their first child. She got sick and they suspected she had pneumonia, but it turns out she has swine flu. Fortunately, she was close to fullterm so they took the baby out and he is doing fine.
The woman, unfortunately is not. They transported her to a major hospital and put her in a drug-induced coma because they cannot keep the oxygen level in her blood up. She is on an ECMO machine which is doing the work of oxygenating her blood that her lungs cannot do right now. Every couple of days, they try to lift her out of the induced coma just a little bit and her oxygen level drops off so they have to put her back into the coma each time.
This young lady is in big trouble. Apparently, you cannot stay on ECMO for more than a few weeks. She has already been on it for about a week. She may end up having to have a lung transplant. Just a few short days back she was a vibrant young woman excitedly looking forward to being a first time mother. Now there is a baby who has yet to be able to bond with his mother and a mother who is fighting to be able to stay alive and raise the little baby that she brought into this world.
She needs some big prayers. Things don't look good for her, but we all know that with God, all things are possible. The family would appreciate any prayers offered on her behalf. (By the way, her name is Karin.)
Thank you to all of you and God bless us all as we all, me included, fight this BC battle.

Faith3:16 Love that user name -- and I'm thinking you mean John 3:16? Father in Heaven, in the Name of Jesus and because He is worthy - we are asking for a miracle for Karin. Bring her out of this and without needing a lung transplant. We know you are able, and we thank you now for what you are going to do and may you receive all the glory. Amen! Let us know how she gets along. This swine flu is very scary and I'm thinking this is just the tip of the iceberg! God bless! I'm resurrecting this thread to give an update on this girl. After being in a coma for something like 3 months, she was finally able to hold her baby for the first time and is finally recovering. If any of you are interested, they are doing a segment on her tomorrow, (Thursday, Oct. 15) on ABC's Good Morning America. They say it will be on around 8:05, but I don't know how accurate that is. Just in case somebody is interested........................ A lot of people prayed for this young woman. God does answer prayers. |
