I don't even know if I know how to explain this.
I put off having my expander filled until after chemo because I live 2 hours away from the hospital and going in twice in one week was impossible at the time.
I went in for my first fill two weeks ago and the expander had moved and folded over so my ps put some saline in but was not sure if he punctured the implant or not. He thinks it went ok and I think it didn't get any smaller, he didn't expand it as far as he could have I think because we don't know what is happening right now but I think this thing is just sloshing around in my chest because it just doesn't feel like its always in the same place. Does that make sence?
Has anyone had anything like this happen?

Gosh, I am no expert, but I wonder if it came detached some how? It shouldnt be moving at all. How much are you fill at this point? They should feel very hard, even if your not that filled yet. How does you PS figure he may have punctured them? During your fill? Doesnt he use that magnet tool to show him where to go in? I'm sorry I am not much of a help maybe I am confused, but I am concerned. |

I had had my expander in place for a few months and was still in the expansion mode when my plastic surgeon had casually mentioned that the expander had turned 180 degrees. My expander was triangular in shape at that time so it was a strange appearance. Becky C. Part of it had folded over on to its self. He used the magnet thingy but he wasn't totaly sure if it had some how flipped over or if the folded part was going to be over where the needle was going in. He didn't put much saline in at all. I think because he wasn't sure if it was going to leak. I also have these wierd muscle spasms under the expander. They don't hurt, they just feel wierd. Leave it to me to be wierd about this! I had expanders on both sides and the left hand one never settled down. It moved constantly, catching on my ribs whenever I moved. I had them removed after 18 weeks of agony!! Trudie

I had 200 ccs put in my expanders during my BM surgery, and before my first fill they did move around because they weren't full enough to fill the space. It actually hurt pretty bad because when they moved they pulled on the stitch that held them in place. After my first fill they were "stuck" in place. Hopefully after your next fill they won't move anymore! Janine, who is now 42

my expander moved around in my chest. MY PS explained a pocket is made in the muscle and the expander or implant is slipped in it. It will move around within the pocket since is is not secured in place by suturing it to the muscle. Carol Carrie
