Ladies,
Is anyone willing to share with me how a reconstructed breast after subq mastectomy feels. I was diagnosed with IDC 2cm and after the MRI I have the option of doing a lumpectomy with radiation or unilateral or bilateral subq mastectomy with nipple sparing. I am inclined to do a mastectomy so I don't have to put too much concern into recurrence. Are the reconstructed breast with the implant behind the muscle pliable or soft or are they very rigid and hard?

Hi Karen, I had my exchange on May 4th and the implants seem to be softer all the time, but not like natural breasts. I had nipple sparing BLM and love the way my breasts look, but I do need a lift and we may have to move my nipples, which could cause them to wither, so it isn't always as easy at is seems. The implants do move when your pecs are engaged, but you get used to it. With that said, I'm happy with my choice. Best, Karen Age at DX: 48. Exchange surgery and ovary removal in April 2009.
