I had my last fill on Monday, (120cc more) bringing me to a total of 850 on each side. All my other fills, all 5 days apart, were 120ccs, and I was sore the next day but then it would be better. This time is different, however. Every morning when I get up, it hurts just as bad as it did the day before, and it's not until I take a ton of Advil can I even move. It hurts just as bad as it did right after my MX. I start my chemo on Wednesday, and after that I know there won't be any more skin growing -- therefore loosening, and I'm worried I'm going to hurt like this until my exchange in April.
Did this happen to anyone else and will it go away?

So sorry to hear you pain has not subsided. My last two fills were uncomfortable and took longer to recover from. My PS gave me a muscle relaxant that helped greatly! Helped me at night to sleep and as needed during the day. I also sat around with ice packs or heating pad across my chest when I could. PS gave the OK as long at the ice packs covered with a cloth and the heating pad was not on high. Also warm showers and stretching in the showers helped a bunch. I think it took over a week for each of the last fills to loosen up but I was uncomfortable until the exchange. Good Luck. Live life to the fullest - it is not a spectator sport.

Thanks for the suggestions -- I'm going to try the ice packs and heating pads. My PS isn't big into medication, however, so I have no muscle relaxers, etc. I have been taking a lot of showers and baths though, because the heat does seem to ease my muscles, especially right before bed. Thanks! Lisa M.

If the PS will not give you the muscle relaxant, maybe your regular doctor will have some sympathy. There is no need to suffer or even be uncomfortable. Live life to the fullest - it is not a spectator sport.

I had my first fill, only 80 cc's. No pain at all, I should have gone more. My PS said the first two fills you get the most and then he dials it down after. I also only go every three weeks. Maybe the fact that you are getting the same amount each time so quickly is causing this problem? Why do you think chemo will affect your growth? I never heard of that. I start chemo in 10 days, and have only had one fill. I hope that's not true! I'd call the doctor and ask for medication. I had so much pain that I was back on my post-mastectomy pain meds for a few days after each fill. After the last fill, I was so sore that I went back and had the nurse take some saline out. Don't be afraid to ask them to do this. You don't need to be miserable! Be careful with the ice packs and heating pads; you probably don't have much feeling and could not realize how cold/hot your skin is getting. I hope you feel better! Cool Breeze: my oncologist and PS both told me that I would not grow new cells and stretch during chemotherapy because chemo attacks your most rapid growing cells, including skin. They both advised me to get as many fills in before the chemo as I could, or I'd just have to wait until after the chemo to start my reconstruction. Maybe they're wrong. I hope so.
