After I finished treatment I had a tatoo, it felt like the right thing to do.  Everybody loved it, so I thought I would share it.  If you look closely, the legs are the pink ribbon.  For me it symbolized having cancer, but being free of it.

Hi Pam,

Thanks!  Since then, I had another one, and I want one more, they are addictive, not sure why.

Have lovely and guess what I plan to get a tattoo after my treatments as well. I want one that symbolize my freedom free cancer and memorializes my mother's life. She died of Ovarian cancer in1977 when I was only 9.

This past summer I got a tattoo on my left upper arm of my guardian angel.  My angel is my loved ones who have passed before me of other types of cancers (and theres a long list) but none have had BC until mine showed up.  So I am thinking about having a simple small pink ribbon added to where the name plate is when I am fully recovered.  I figure I earned it and not by choice.  I tried to add a pic of my tat but dumb me can't figure out how to do it.

I think tattoos are a great way to remind ourselves of our strength. I haven't decided if I want recon or not. If I don't opt for recon, them I am seriously thinking of having a tattoo of butterflies and shooting stars across my chest.

I am keeping this in mind as I my change my mind later on.

Hi there ladies, I waited 10 years before deciding to get a tattoo, I had a tram flap operation and when all the bits and pieces had been added and coloured I had a small dime size dolphin done, the young man did have a few probs of how to hold the skin etc, but after I told him about my bc and operation he said (oh my mum had the first ever tram flap in Melb) and he was delighted that I had chosen to have a tattoe, it was my xmas present to my ps along with a very personal card, he cried. My ps had shared with me that he does so many tram flaps a year to keep him grounded as a person, say ps can put him with a lot of superficial people. So that is my story one day when I learn how to add pics I will do so, hugs bad

Hey, ladies!!

I totally forgot this thread when I got my tattoo a few weeks ago!  I was going to get this the year I turned 50, but I had to have back surgery instead (herniated disk, I'm fine!).  So I got one recently when I finally had some time off from work, which I haven't had since I was out for treatment.  And I was gonna be gosh-darned if I let my rads tattoos be the only ones I had!!

It's not pink or a pink ribbon.  But it's a Celtic knot, which stands for infinity because it has no beginning and no end, so it's a good symbol for love, friendship, survivorship, etc.

This photo is now the avatar on my blog, too!!
