Topic: 6 months follow up after biopsy

From a veteran who had previous B9 surgical biopsies, I will tell you it's considered standard of care for a 6 month F/U mammogram and visit with breast surgeon. I am also high risk and being monitored with alternating mammos/MRI. Best wishes.

I was due for my 6 month follow up in mid March, but am freaking out so bad I pushed it up to Feb 1st. I had my initial mammo and ultrasound in Sept.  Detected 1.6cm unpalpable lump in right breast. Had ultrasound guided core biopsy (results: normal benign breast tissue) and followed that up with stereotactic (mammatome) biopsy (results: normal breast tissue).  Lately I have just been freaking out like crazy about this upcoming follow up. I keep wondering;

did they miss the spot

did something else grow

was something undected

am I gonna get called into the radiologists office again and encouraged to get another biopsy

I can't seem to relax at all about this.  I just want to be done with this scare. I want to hear: everything is fine...see ya in a year..but something tells me that it will not be that easy

Thanks for the advice for the MRI. I may look into that. I may just see how the mammo and ultrasound go next week (it is Feb 1st).  I doubt they'd do anything before that anyway. Right now I am due to get my period within the next 5-6 days, so all the SBE's I am doing are driving me crazy, as I typically have very dense breasts anyway.  At this point I feel like I have squeezed, poked, grabbed my boobs so much I can't differentiate a lump from just knotty breast tissue.

I hate feeling so worried and anxious. It is interfering with my daily life and it sucks. I feel like everytime I feel something weird going on anywhere in my body, I automatically jump to the irrational conclusion that I have BC and it has metastasized.  I am feel like a hyperchondriac. I just want this mammo behind me with clear findings. I am scared. I have 2 beautiful little girls (5 yrs old and 18  mos) and want to be around for their proms, wedding, etc.

Thanks, Carol. It is nice to know I am not alone. I keep counting down the days til my next mammo - next Monday.  I am so tired of feeling my breasts and researching all the possible "bad" things that could happen. 

What type of biopsy did you have done?  What was the concern?

Hello everybody, i had my MRI 6 month follow up and that looked fine,...nothing found,...just reccomend mammogram,which was fine too. BIG relieve. now they wil alternate mammo and mri so i'll get some kind of check up every 6 months.
