Hello. I was here in October about a lump in my breast doctor found. It was benign. I went for my 6 month follow up because the symptoms got worse. Found another growth in the same spot, but not a cyst and closer to my chest wall. Diagnosis of biopsy was the subject line. Going to have removed, but they can't guarentee it is not cancer. All signs pointing to cancer. Can anyone give any advice on what my diagnosis at this point is?

Hi akc-
Since no one has come by yet, I can share what it MAY mean. I am by far an expert and my diagnosis was cancer from the start. That being said, along with the cancerous tumor, I had what they call papillomas. I was told they were not cancerous but they had to be removed. Apparently, they can develop into cancer and from all my reading here over the years, it does seem that they are always removed.
So, in my very non professional opinion, your diagnosis says you have papilloma(s) within the ducts. Mild atypic is actually encouraging. Atypia means atypical.."mild" to me means something looks not quite right but it's surely not slapping them in the face. Do you see anywhere on the biopsy report a BIRADS number?
Hope this calms you down a bit. This is all so damn scary!
Best- Ellen

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I do not have the report and forgot to ask that. I use to work for the pathologist that read the biopsy specimen, so I called and spoke with him about it. He said, "get it out! It doesn't mean you don't have cancer in another part of the lump or surrounding tissue." So now I am waiting to hear back to find out when my surgery will be.
Thanks

I had the same thing and lost the bottom 1/3 of my breast last fall. It was a big area and I'm small breasted as it is. Once the surgeon got in there he said the tissue looked awful. Also had sclerosing adenosis (radial scar) within the same area. Unfortunately after five excisions my tissue wasn't clear of all the issues so I've been thrown back in the testing circle. Ultrasound/mammo a couple months ago (which never picked it up in the first place) and my MRI is in a week. Here we go again.

Angie,
Hi, how are you doing?? Have you had surgery yet? Did you see a breast specialist surgeon?
I have been diagnosed, today, with the same. I am sure surgeon will recommend surgical excision. I had a suspicious area 18 months ago that was surgically removed but turned out to be benign calcifications. This mammogram was supposed to be my "aha" moment where it was all clear and I go back to yearly mammo's.
Instead, there was yet another area suspicious. I had the stereotactic biopsy on Friday last week and the radiologist called today with the results. This is totally different that the last time. I'm quite sure, with my history, that my surgeon will opt to surgically remove.
Mine is intraductal papillomatosis with mild atypia hyperplasia. And it's lateral on my breast, not directly behind the nipple.
How are you feeling? I hope you are doing well and all has been removed and benign!!
Peace and Grace,
Kim
