Hello all my crazy Canucks! Ladies....we need you all to put your names on our new role call list here. Being still a relative newcomer I feel it is important to be able to find other women from canada in one place. For newcomers it is somewhere they can come to find someone they need to ask a made in canada only question. Our Canadian threads are getting old and tired and seldom used so we are all scattered, hopefully we can start some new ones especially for resources that we may need or are looking for. This is the kind of info we are lacking and really need. So can we rise to the challenge and join hands coast to coast to share our wealth of knowledge to pass on to others and share??? This thread will be our role call, so join me and take my hand.

I guess the bright side is that if you don't have them, the fluid build-up can cause a burst like my first one did. That wasn't fun. LOL re the whore's panties! ( My mom says "...like a bride's nightie").

Thanks Ladies. GP mentioned the build up that can happen if they pull too early and that really doesn't sound pleasant at all.
GP said infection is 'one of those things'. I have been so so careful with these drains and pipes, but I guess its an open wound and unless we sit in a bubble we are open to this stuff. Oh! well onwards and upwards. Off to get my dressings changed this morning.
Hope you all have wonderful glorious sunny day again.

Tazzy, Which antibiotic did they give you? If it's Cephalexin, that's what I was on for my infections. Seemed to do the trick pretty quickly. Hang in there!
I'm debating whether to go to our company picnic tomorrow. Let's see: it's going to be hot and I can't wear shorts because I have a skin graft site on my leg (unless I want to scare away all the children from the food table).
I can't wear a tank top because I can't wear a foob and I have nothing to hold it up on one side unless I use surgical tape. Hey, I might just create a whole new fashion statement!
Oh, and I haven't painted my toes in weeks. So, time to teach hubby how to paint toenails. Bwaahahahaha.

Thanks Tazzy. I think we will go tomorrow. I have the same attitude, so I'm right with you!
I don't really care about the general public. The only difference is that these are co-workers. I haven't seen most of them for a month or so.
I'm dreading the "How are you feeeeeling?" questions. Even though people mean well, there's always somebody who will put their foot in it. The last time I went into the office, someone cornered me and told me about someone they knew who died of breast cancer. Who DOES that?
Hope everyone has a great and relaxing weekend!

Cher, so glad that your picc line distracts others from your booblessness!!! And yes, you DO need a break!! I don't undertand about "1 estrogen receptor". What does that mean? Pills can be as effective as chemo as a first line of defence. That's what would happen to me. I never had chemo when it all started as my SURGEON decided I didn't need it!! When I finally got to an onc (by my request) she said it was too late anyway. So I never had it. If you are TN then you need something. But if you are ER+, then maybe you could use an AI....no? Also, there are ladies with many other diseases here, MS and the like and they do chemo with caution. Why would COPD stop you from chemo? It doesn't affect your breathing. I'm probably as confused as you are.

Okay ladies, this is for all of you...got a new one (to me)last night & this from a close friend. She named 2 different people (one her ex's stepdaughter who is only 32) who had breast cancer & now it has come back as a brain tumours & is terminal. Poor, poor girl....but my friend went on in detail about this girl and the other person who has already died recently from BC. and she said " no matter how bad it is there is always somebody worse" this was to make me feel good I guess, and not feel sorry for myself.
Anybody want to know how I accepted that little lecture? Going to tell you what I told her: Tell me something (to my friend) if you have a headache and someone else has a worse one does it make yours go away and you feel better? I proceeded to tell her what my family doctor (a very dear man) told me years ago when my husband was very ill...."it is the stone in your own shoe that hurts the worst".
There will always be someone worse off than we are, all of us. Does not lessen what we are feeling nor it does it make us any less compassionate and caring for each other.
We should get a discount on the amount of duct tape needed.
Any of you close enough to come to the Ontario Get together, I have fresh peach pies all made and ready for you. Hugs to you all.

Obviously the more "receptive" you are, the greater good the pills can do. Did they say why your COPD rules out chemo? Is it risk of infection?
