Hello all my crazy Canucks! Ladies....we need you all to put your names on our new role call list here. Being still a relative newcomer I feel it is important to be able to find other women from canada in one place. For newcomers it is somewhere they can come to find someone they need to ask a made in canada only question. Our Canadian threads are getting old and tired and seldom used so we are all scattered, hopefully we can start some new ones especially for resources that we may need or are looking for. This is the kind of info we are lacking and really need. So can we rise to the challenge and join hands coast to coast to share our wealth of knowledge to pass on to others and share??? This thread will be our role call, so join me and take my hand.

Charlene 47, I noticed that no one has replied to your post yet re: chemo and is it worth it. Only you can answer that. I had a small tumour and no nodes. Thought I did not need chemo. My onc. had a different idea and because my bc was grade 3 he said yes I needed it. I was never offered oncotype testing (wish I was). I did the chemo 3 out of 4 AC dose dense and 4 Taxol. The AC made me really sick, the Taxol gave me extreme joint and bone pain. I have not worked since my dx. end of June. I am a grade one teacher and could never keep up with my little ones during chemo, (had a hard enough time with my three at home). I know a lot of women do work through chemo though and I guess it depends what you do for a living. I wish you well and you will make the best decision for yourself. Kellie

Wow I just re-read my post and realized how negative it sounded. I am glad I made the decision I did (to do chemo). All I was saying is that you have to make the ultimate decision because you are the one who has to live with it. I'm not a bummer really!! :-) Kellie

Hi Ladies Another Canadian, here from Durham Region (Ajax). I'm just coming up on my 1st anniversary of stage 4 diagnosis. I've been through the hormonals & Xeloda and now just finished my second Taxol cycle. I'm still trying to find my new normal. I dreaded chemo but really, it has been doable. It looks to me that we have about 5 or so ladies from B.C. here. It would be great to have a Vancouver area get together. Should see if those of us who live here could start something. How many of you East Coasters and mid' coasters would be interested in having a get together in Beautiful B.C. this summer. Would love to hear from you. |

Hi all, from Alberta. Starting chemo tomorrow and don't know what to expect. This whole journey has been the ultimate shock. I'm dealing with it though and ready for the fight! Had lumpectomy and 11 lymph nodes removed (3 positive) on Jan 8/08. I'm having 6 chemos, radiation and tamoxafen after that. Picked up my wig the other day just to know it's in the house. Bring it on! |

Cheryl, Right now I'm doing a little of both. I saw a surgeon at the Civic (my surgery was done in Toronto. I had a breast reduction and they found DCIS when the biopsied the removed tissue - complete shock). I saw an oncologist a the General. In a few weeks I'll be seeing the same oncologist at the Civic. Luckily Ottawa is small enough that bouncing all over the city isn't that difficult. I'm seeing a ps next week to discuss reconstruction. That's at the Riverside. Where do you live?? OTTAWAGIRL ... I am in Smiths Falls. My surgery was Queensway Carleton Hosp, I saw my onc Dr Dent at both General and Civic but chemo was at General. Rads were with Dr Meng at Civic. Didn't do recon so didn't hit the Riverside LOL. Yes it's a good thing Ottawa is not too big... easy to get around. Dx 6/2005, IDC, 1cm, Stage IIIa, Grade 2, 1/8 nodes, ER+/PR+ |

Ok, one chemo down, 5 to go. I feel good, just a bit flushed. Lets hope for the best for the next three weeks. I had no problems and don't think I need hubby to take me the next time. Nice to see all the Canadians on the site. Too bad we all have to go through this, but the support is priceless! Thanks for the welcome. |

Hello ladies. I am in Vancouver BC (Richmond) and am at tx #6 of 8. I did 4 ac now onto 4 taxol, then will have radiation. The taxol is really taking its toll along with the neupogen injections. I could barely move my legs as they were in so much pain yesterday. I forced myself to go out for a 3 - 4 km walk today as its so beautiful & springlike outside. I did it Its so nice to see so many fellow Canadians here supporting each other through all this. I normally post on the chemo Dec 07 thread. Lots of love & hugs to everyone.
