Is eating dairy products safe for ER positive breast cancer? I have heard that it is not, while others tell me it is all right. Also is eating poultry all right? I have lost too much weight and need help. I need same good safe recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. I am not eating soy.

Tobi- In my opinion, dairy products are NOT safe for breast cancer. Others will disagree. I attended a workshop taught by Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Neil Barnard. They have done extensive research on this and it totally makes sense to me. They say that dairy products actually promote cancer. I used to eat alot of dairy...I loved cheese. I will never eat dairy again. Go to your library and check out "The China Study" by T. Colin Campbell. It is a real eye opener. |

The book doesn't say that dairy causes cancer. It says that if cancer is in the body, dairy promotes its growth. Dr. Campbell tries to explain it this way: if you plant grass seeds but do not water the seeds, grass doesn't grow. Dairy in our bodies acts similar to the watering of grass. It promotes the growth of cancer. He has done much research on this. It is up to you if you want to believe it or not. I personally do. |

Hi, tobi ~ I believe the biggest concern with dairy products and poultry are the hormones that are used to produce most of what's commonly available in our supermarkets. If you do eat them, be sure to buy hormone-free milk and natural chicken, available in natural markets, as well as some larger supermarkets that carry natural brands. In addition to The China Study, Beating Cancer With Nutrition by Patrick Quillin, PhD is another book I'd recommend. Also, check out the thread here called "natural girls." I'll try to give you a link to it: Your question is exactly the sort of thing we discuss there, as well as avoiding toxins, supplements, recipes, etc. Deanna Deanna

Hi everyone...I believe Deanna hit it right on the money! we have to avoid "poisons" in our food and drink...along with the dairy products/poulty that becomes infected with the things they put in the animals that produce it, the fat in red meats also stores toxic stuff that aids the cancer. Ofcourse, some of this is almost unadvoidable, so we can incorporate things in our diets to help combat the "evil"...Like the Omega 3 fatty acids (best found in organic ground flax seed) which deters the growth of breast cancer in at least a dozen ways. recommended 2-3 tbs. daily And Green tea...cancer thrives in inflammation and tea is a great anti-inflammatory (also, there is a trend moving toward recommending daily ibuphropen as preventative medecine~~just like taking a daily aspirin for heart protection) green tea has the remarkable ability to amplify the power of the enzymes in your liver that detoxify your body of poisonous carcinogens. There are many other great effects with green tea but I don t have enough time to get into them..Let me just say that I believe it s one of the very best things we can take into our bodies to fight this battle. My weight stays/regulates well with high protein breakfast (organic peanut/almond butter with honey and organic WHOLE GRAIN hearty nut bread from Whole Foods..delicious!! and then pretty much fruit and vegies all day ... Yeah, hit the 'natural girls" link as suggested... Best of health and healing to all! Jules my puppy looks everywhere for the Cure! he's convinced its near the neighbor's shitzu, Daisy!

Tobi I have gone to organic dairy and eggs. The first time I drank organic milk I could not believe the great taste as compared to regular milk. There really is a big difference. Milk is a good source of protien. Yogart and cottage cheese as well. I have given up meat but there are organic meats available as well. Dx 1/9/2009, ILC, 1cm, Stage I, 0/2 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- |

Thanks for the advice. I could not get on the link but will try to get the book. Any recipes for making delicious lunches, dinners, and snacks would be helpful. Has anyone used almond milk? |

tobi ~ Sorry that link didn't work. Try this: http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/79/topic/730113?page=27#idx_799 Almond milk has been mentioned there, along with rice milk, oat milk, and hemp milk, which are all healthful alternatives to cow's milk. You can also find this thread and others on food if you click on the Forum Index above, then scroll down to the Alternatives section. Deanna Deanna
