Hello, everyone. My Mom had her stereotactic biopsy today. She is 68 years old and has early onset Alzheimer's Disease (AD) so I was a bit concerned about how she would react to all this, but she came through it like a trooper. Now the waiting game begins. It's a shame this biopsy appointment fell on a Friday so that we will have to wait over the weekend, but we should hear something Tuesday or Wednesday I would think.
The doctor is going to call me with the results, and then I'll tell Mom. If it's benign, I'll give her a call and let her know. If not, I'll drive (about an hour to her house) and tell her in person. Her family doctor told me to call them first before I talk to her so that they can give me information about what the next steps will be if it is BC including the name of the surgeon she will see. That will be very helpful since I'm sure she'll be full of questions for me.
I am not sure how she and I are going to handle this next "adventure" that life may be throwing us, but I know we'll get through it together one step at a time like we have everything else down through the years. I am SO grateful that this forum and all of you are here so that I can educate myself and get some answers, hand-holding, reassurance, and comfort. The abbreviations thread in particular has been especially helpful as I've begun to navigate my way around here. Thank you all very much for being here for us and for each other.

There is no logic with dementia or AD, and we have learned to meet her exactly where she is at the moment. Right now she feels good physically and is not in any pain. I'm very thankful. I was blessed with a mom who was my best friend for most of my life. As you are doing, I'm going to do my best to do what I think she would want me to do. But these are the tough times to be a daughter. All my best. |
