Hello, everyone. My Mom had her stereotactic biopsy today. She is 68 years old and has early onset Alzheimer's Disease (AD) so I was a bit concerned about how she would react to all this, but she came through it like a trooper. Now the waiting game begins. It's a shame this biopsy appointment fell on a Friday so that we will have to wait over the weekend, but we should hear something Tuesday or Wednesday I would think.

The doctor is going to call me with the results, and then I'll tell Mom. If it's benign, I'll give her a call and let her know. If not, I'll drive (about an hour to her house) and tell her in person. Her family doctor told me to call them first before I talk to her so that they can give me information about what the next steps will be if it is BC including the name of the surgeon she will see. That will be very helpful since I'm sure she'll be full of questions for me.

I am not sure how she and I are going to handle this next "adventure" that life may be throwing us, but I know we'll get through it together one step at a time like we have everything else down through the years. I am SO grateful that this forum and all of you are here so that I can educate myself and get some answers, hand-holding, reassurance, and comfort. The abbreviations thread in particular has been especially helpful as I've begun to navigate my way around here. Thank you all very much for being here for us and for each other.

Hi Cindy -- I am responding to the questions you posed on the other thread.  We did not do chemo or radiation although it might have been indicated if my mom was in better shape to tolerate it.  She is on hormonal treatment.  Aside from the cancer, her quality of life is sad.  When I said she thinks she is 40, I meant it literally.  sometimes it is 30 or younger.  She misses her parents and worries that they don't know where she is.  She is angry or sad that my dad is not with her.  Although he died three years ago, to her he is always just parking the car or taking a nap.  She wants to know when he will take her home.  Home is the house she lived in with her parents when she and my dad first married.  Any time she is moved into a new environment, she is upset.  So we hope to stave off a recurrance for as long as possible and we will deal with what comes when it comes.  Remarkably, she still recognizes all of us and knows who we are to her.  There is no logic with dementia or AD, and we have learned to meet her exactly where she is at the moment.  Right now she feels good physically and is not in any pain.  I'm very thankful.  I was blessed with a mom who was my best friend for most of my life.  As you are doing, I'm going to do my best to do what I think she would want me to do.  But these are the tough times to be a daughter. All my best.
