I keep reading all different outcome predictions for a birads 4 (2-95%). I have a birads 4c calcification. I just read somewhere that I have a 80% chance of it being cancer? I am confused and obviously terrified. Had my stereo. biopsy yesterday.
Can anyone clarify? Leaf?
Help.

Hi there....I know exactly how you feel. I had a biopsy earlier this week and an MRI this morning. Happened to notice my chart this morning showed birads 5. I'm scared too....hang in there. I'm sure once we have results and a plan of action (if needed) it'll feel a little better (I hope). Mich

Hi mich Unfortunately, we have this in common right now. Do you have calcifications or a lump? This is my 5th biopsy within one year. Real tired of this now. Maybe we could chat sometime? Best of wishes to you. |

I can't give you stats and I never post---just a lurker---gave me much comfort over the past month while I was going thru HELL with this stuff. The good news is after many mammos, ultrasounds, biopsy & finally a lumpectomy this past Monday I received good news that my solid mass that was ranked birads 4 was only fibroadenoma---yay--b9 is wonderul news to my ears. The area they removed was 6.8 x 6.2 x 1.4cm so yes I'm lopsided but thankful it was b9! Read and find comfort in what you find here on this site but try not to get to worked up & let your mind run away with you like I let mine do. The waiting and not knowing is the worse and I truly think it is inhumane.......best of wishes to you!! |

Hi there... I have BI-RADS 5 microcalcifications (mine looked like little offshoots off the main mass), but although in my case that's a 95%+ chance that I have bc, that obviously does NOT mean anything re: chances for recovery. Even if your worst fears come true, as hard as it is to even think of right now, chances are you will be FINE... I wish I knew how NOT to proactively worry... I seem to be the queen of that! but, hopefully you'll get your results back soon and they will put your mind at ease. I agree, the waiting/not knowing is inhumane... I asked my doctor if I would be able to get my biopsy results the same day as my biopsy. Ahh, silly naive girl I was... well, I've stocked up the Netflix queue with several funny movies to keep my mind off it for a bit... hopefully you can distract yourself too until you get the results! Hang in there! Julia (I also answer to Julie!)

Hey shabby - by definition birads 4 means anywhere from 3% to 94% malignant so really big range. Get your biopsy and get the facts. Good luck |

I know the fear well had areas enhance in both breasts from MRI and it was rated birad 4c, both were B9, so if you have to wait to long don't be afraid of anti anxiety meds, I have never had anxiety before but I did and the med's make it so much easier to wait. You will be able to deal with whatever happens but the waiting is terrible. Sending good thoughts your way. Linda ( 5-09 Bilateral Pleomorphic LCIS)
