I am so sorry you had to find your way here. This is a good place to gather information, though.
Staging at the time of mammogram only indicates size of tumor. stage 2 is good. That is generally 2-5 cm in diameter.
Remember that the mammogram does not diagnose cancer, but a growth. That growth could be 2-5 cm and NOT be a cancer. 80% of biopsies are negative for cancer. So, don't sweat it at this point.
Waiting to know for sure is tough, hang in there.

A mammo gets a Birads category result and a Birads 2 is normal. If you are going for a biopsy it must have been a Birads 4 or 5. I can't think of anything a radiologist would 'stage'. Either way - if a biopsy is recommended you are going in the right direction with a breast surgeon. Nerve racking to wait but take it one day at time.

Deep breath, enjoy your weekend and know that a few days isn't going to make a difference in the grand scheme of things.
Lots of good wishes for you.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. My advice, though, is to take someone with you to your appointment. It's always good to have a second pair of ears to hear what the doctor is explaining. As you realize, sometimes the patient "zones out" when a tumor is mentioned.

OK so saw my gyn today, she explained the results of my mammo & us. She said "there is a 7mm growth at 12 oclock with a cluster of growths around it, the lump we both feel at 6 oclock don't even show up on either of the tests, and there are microcalcificaitons. So she wants me to see a BS" I'm still quite not sure what is going on, I guess it's still a waiting game til I see the BS.
But I thank all of you for your input and your support, this is a wonderful site !!

OK just returned from BS, very upset about different things,
First when my gyn office first called me and gave me my results as you can see what I wrote above they had it all messed up, she the secretary told me "stage 2" when she should have said birads 2 !! She said I had microcals, the report I have in my hands say NO microcals !! The doc or a nurse should have called me !!
Second this BS says "yes you do have a "lump" with a cluster of them around it at 12 oclock but it is so small it is only about a half inch if that, and the one at 6 oclock don't even show up on us so we would be going in the blind if we try to bx" . He wants to wait 6 months and check it then, but I don't feel comfortable with waiting and not knowing.
I don't know is it just me, am I being over cautious ? All of my family wants me to get a second opinion, but I don't know what to do, I'm just soooooo mad right now !!!

My opinion, which doesn't amount to much because I did NOT do what I'm telling you to do, DO NOT WATCH & WAIT. (BTW, I'm not yelling, just emphasizing). Demand a breast MRI. If they refuse, YELL AT THEM. It's you life, your health, your breast. Take control of the situation. A second opinion is a fabulous idea. Don't stop till you know for sure that it's not BC.
Praying for you.

I may have to pay for it myself, ins. might not pay but I DON'T CARE I WILL !! Aug. 29th can't come soon enough, now time to wait some more !!

First I want to thank all of you for your support, this is a great site !! Well just a quick update, I went to Breast Spec. today and I can't say nothing but GOOD things about Hershey Breast Center, it's the BEST !!!
Well everything is B9 ! I have to follow up in 6 months but very relieved with the care I recieved !! They were VERY thorough and found 3 more lumps I didn't know about but they all turned out B9. Still have to see genetic doc too but that's ok, for the most part I think most of the worry is over for now!
Thanks again, god bless hugs to all !!!
