Before being diagnosed this summer, I had a couple of small fillings that I needed to get done in addition to a crown. I cancelled the appointments after being dx. Now that my surgery is over and things have stabilized, I can't avoid this any longer and as much as I hate going to the dentist, I know I need to get the work done. That said, what precautions are needed? Can having an injection to freeze my mouth cause lymphedema? Should I take antibiotics?

If you're doing chemo, which it doesn't sound like you are I know that you should get your dental work done before chemo and/or talk to your onc before doing dental work. I've not heard or read anything about lymphedema and dental work. Diagnosis: 6/19/2009, IDC, 1cm, Stage IIIa, Grade 3, 4/15 nodes, mets, ER-/PR-, HER2- |

I completely agree with MOTC: my husband is a dentist and I just told him about the post and he agrees that there's no way dental work can cause LE. Kira Diagnosis: 5/10/2008, IDC, 1cm, Stage Ib, Grade 2, 0/3 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- |
