It's been a while. Too long. But I finally found the time to order new sleeves. GEEEEZ what a pain in the butt!! Lost most of my order info during move (thought I had stored it in my hospital bag) and had to start all over with measurements and figure out the compression, class, etc. etc. Measuring around the upper arm area is a treat because ya can't really read it and you only have one hand to work with. Thank God my hubby came to the rescue and assisted me with that. If it weren't for stepup-speakout I literally couldn't have done it. The page on garments and proper fitting helped me remember what I needed to in order to get it right.
I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU! Don't know what I would do without that site!
And yea, this time the ordering info actually is in my hospital bag!
I'm trying the Varin Soft In this time. These days anything soft becomes my favorite thing!

Doe, you are our disability expert, and have helped so many women--glad to be of some small service. Does your insurance pick up any of the cost? If not, do some web surfing--I found my gloves the cheapest at http://www.nulifemedical.com/store/pc/home.asp I look for a site with free shipping and a return policy--unlike bandagesplus which has high shipping and all sales are permanent. Don't forget the gauntlet... I have Juzo long and medi 95 long sleeves--let us kow how the varin soft works for you. Juzo has a softer product--the "dream sleeve" that comes in pretty colors. Wise choice on the Juzo--because the new Jobst has wool in it, and you have sensitive skin. That's why a return policy is essential. Hugs to you. Nope. No coverage; not even for Lana certified therapist. Thanks for the tip Kira and I will check that site out. Wool? What were they thinking? Thanks so much! Doe

Question..... Seems to me the all in one sleeve and gauntllet would have a tendency to slide down from the upper arm. Wondering what others experience with this is. Is it generally more beneficial to have two separate garments; sleeve and gaunlet? Haven't purchased a gauntlet yet. Any swelling in hand (usually thumb) resolves when nasty weather subsides. But I do live in Michigan and wonder if I should give it a try for the rough days. This winter has been so dark and grey, sunshine feels like we've been blessed with a miracle. Doe

Doe, I wear a glove and sleeve and have two separate pieces--easier to take off the glove when I want to wash my hands. I don't wear the sleeve much--my latest PT advised wearing the glove over the sleeve--when you wear two pieces you tend to get a "dent" with the overlap--if the sleeve is under--the dent or ring is at the wrist, and if the glove is over, it's at the base of the glove. That's the hypothetical benefit of all in one--no dent or impression with an overlap. If the thumb swells, the gauntlet sounds like it's needed--it's also good not to push fluid up to the hand. Check out the different gauntlets--Juzo's is pretty inexpensive. What I've done to find the cheapest site is to google the name of the item I want, and different sites pop up. Doe, winter is pretty miserable here too. At least it's sunny today, but cold. NO COVERAGE???? Ridiculous, IMO. Kira Diagnosis: 5/10/2008, IDC, 1cm, Stage Ib, Grade 2, 0/3 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- |

I found for me that the sleeve over the glove works best because my wrists are small, so if the sleeve is under there's no way to keep it from bunching. Diagnosis: 9/30/2004, IDC, 3cm, Stage IIb, Grade 2, 1/17 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- |

I was taught to wear the glove over the sleeve, but my wrist is so thin that it takes forever to smooth the end of the sleeve under the glove. At this point, I wear a custom glove, but an "off the shelf" sleeve. Sue |

I was reading the posts, and I messed up: I wear the sleeve OVER the glove: I find everything is smoother and I don't get the deep dents at the wrist. I have a custom glove and an off the shelf sleeve. I have thin wrists also, and I know it's easy to get overcompressed if that's your body type. Doe, I don't know about the sliding issue, but my LE therapist said she does not recommend buying the all-in-one sleeve and glove combo. Her reasoning was that they are much harder to fit than if we buy a separate sleeve and glove. I'm not sure that would be the case with a custom-fit garment; but we were talking about off-the-shelf compression garments for me. As it turned out, my very best-fitting sleeve and glove aren't even the same brand. otter Diagnosis: 1/14/2008, IDC, 1cm, Stage I, Grade 2, 0/3 nodes, ER+/PR-, HER2- |

I picked up my Dream Sleeve today (in a lovely cranberry color!) and it is so soft and wonderful. I also ordered a new custom vest that will come in a soft thin fabric, unlike the horrible expensive thick cotton one that I have now. It will zip up the side, too, so I'm hoping it won't bulge under clothes the way my current vest does. Thanks for the link to the inexpensive sleeves. I haven't figured out my insurance limit yet but when I reach it I will want some options! April in Texas |

April, do tell me more about the vest. Who makes it? Any pictures on-line? Ordering information? For that matter, what is your current "bulgy" vest? The more we know about what's available the more freedom of choice we have. Glad you like your new Dream Sleeve -- they are comfy! Be well, |
