Did anyone do concurrent anti-hormone drugs with radiation? I had 2 lymph nodes left after neoadjuctive chemo and have spent a month filling implant expanders before beginning radiation. I finished chemo on sept 1st and will not start anti-hormone therapy until after rads (Jan). Im worried about the long interval between chemo and anti-hormone therapy. Any thoughts?

Hello, I'm taking Aromasin, and will start rads on 11/16. I had 5mos chemo, ended on 9/9, and then had my surgeries. I started the Aromasin right after surgery. My onc. told me to start the Aromasin before the surgery, but I was scared I would have side effects to deal with before surgery, so I waited till after. Be sure to ask your onc. why he/she wants you to wait to start. Best wishes! Jessica Jessica, Age 34 5mos chemo, bilat, ALND & total hyst 10/09. Sure. I started my Arimidex about a week or two into my rads. The rads lasted six week, so I had about four weeks of overlap. I'm not a complete idiot. Some parts are missing.

I started Femara a few weeks after chemo and before radiation started. Continued femara and completed radiation with no issues. Herceptin has been in the mix since part way through chemo. Leslie

I also started Tamoxifen when I began rads. Maybe the same day, I forget. My docs said it did not make a difference whether I took it during rads or waited until after rads. I wanted to start ASAP. Carol Diag.1/06 at age 40, 1.6cm, 6+nodes, stage IIIa, er/pr+, her2-, chemo, mast. rads, no recon

I think the key is no down time-no time for your body to reproduce those cancer cells..... The one rads I met with Strongly advised no down time-chemo ends and the anti hormonal begins. I am all for that! I am hoping with super nutrition and mega exercies I can combat the se"s. My mom did tamoxifin and had no SE"S -she didn't even know there could be any. JMV

yeah, i think you just want to keep "hitting" the cancer cells with treatment.. i consider exercise..good nutrition..all the things you can do PLUS the doctor stuff as "treatment" Feel the strength inside; tap into the power of self and soul. Healing comes from inside and out**

I consider daily exercise as important in my treatment plan as going through Chemo, or taking my Arimidex. I get up every morning before 6:00am for my walk, and last week a friend said to me "wow, you are so motivated, i could never get up so early every day now it is getting cold". This is really useful info - thanks. I do my last FEC chemo on December 4th and anticipate starting rads after Christmas. After surgery, because I had a bad infection, I couldn't dash into chemo, so started Femara. As you ladies have quite rightly pointed out, exercise does help with SEs, in particular for me, stiff ankles and sore feet etc could be kept at bay by sticking to my daily 10k steps. I am slightly nervous about going back into the gym for weight training (which I usually love) as I had lumpectomy and breast reduction both sides, and am still sore; chemo doesn't help a lot with healing.. Blimey, anybnody else just get plain bored with all of this? Anyway, any thoughts on gym things would be helpful please. I must admit, it is really appealing to take a little drug break before rads........... best wishes to all - Virginia.
