Hello I am getting ready to start 4 treatments of TC 3 weeks apart. I am trying to decide on which oncology to go to. I am 45 in great health very fit. Both places are the same distance from my home about 30-45 minutes.

Place A automatically gives you the neulasta shot the day after chemo then check blood counts every 10 days, and they have kind of dividers between the chemo chairs with a curtain if you want privacy. But I am also checking into another one of their locations that the same doctor goes to.

Place B only gives neulasta if you need it, they have you come in once a week to monitor blood counts. They have an open room for treatment but they also have a few private rooms you could use, and they have wifi which would really make the time fly and I could get work done.

Any opinions on the neulasta shot? Should I go with a doctor who feels I should just automatically get it or not?

Yay. You now have a "place to fight in!" Seriously that is awesome. So glad you're feeling a bit better.

I started volunteering at the ACS (American Cancer Society). I'm on the steering committee for Strides Against Breast Cancer (Survivorship/Caregiver subcommittee). I also was an aid yesterday passing out water/Gatorade in the women's 1/2 marathon. It was red alert hot too. We had to be there at 5:30am! Nothing like watching the sun come up over the lake.

Hi ladies- I don't know if you all know, but Beccad (Becky) passed away on Monday. There is a thread titled Beccad is an Angel. I knew she wasn't doing well, but I didn't realize she was close to the end. She is the third loss on the Calling all TNS thread in the last week. My heart goes out to her family.

I'm finding that people seem to go suddenly. It's tough on us but best for them in the sense that they don't suffer. I watched my 86 YO mother in law suffer (lung cancer).

She also might not have wanted people to worry so she didn't let on.

So sad about beccad Cry

I don't post much these days, but am always lurking.  I had no idea she was as sick as she was, but as you said lago, she may not have wanted

people to worry....or could have been faster than even she was expecting, which in many ways could be a blessing.

Sad news to hear, but I hope everyone is doing well otherwise.

Hi all,

I was/am so saddened about beccad; this all still taking a lot of adjustment, in many respects. I really hate it when someone I "know" here dies or has recurrence or complications. It's beyond sad, yes.

Though I'm glad to be able to come visit others of you from time to time---usually I'm quiet. Awhile ago the bco thread "email notices" quit coming and I thought everyone was on other topics.  But I guess the "notices" were broken for quite awhile. Not comfortable in the "new" bco format yet.

Anyway, good to "see" you who are here!  I unevently passed my 2yr mark for the dx and for the bmx, and since "no recon" and "no pills" have had only checkups with exams and blood work (four-times- down to twice- per-year). So far so good with NED! :) I get my next check in Jan, along with a chest xray then.  Good luck to you Lago and Mum-O on your tests.
