welcome lynne, how is your skin holding up? sorry you are feeling tired.
has anyone asked or been told they could, do a morning and afternoon rad to make up for any rads they have to miss. because of stupid memorial day, i end on a monday and i really don't want to have to wait a whole weekend just for one last treatment. i am going to ask if i can do a morning and afternoon session on this friday. never hurts to ask, right?

Mckenna, I'm on the books for thirty-five total treatments. Thirty "regular" and five boosts at the end. With breaks for Memorial Day and Independance Day on July 4, that makes my last treatment on July 10.
For those already weeks into their treatment schedules, have you experienced pain/discomfort that isn't relieved by tylenol? If I need to ask my RO for something stronger I want to add that to my list of questions for next time.
I'm here at my desk at work, and I know it's probably all in my head, but I found my prosthetic boobie to be heavy and uncomfortable. I yanked it out and put it in my purse. Two swiffer dusters are serving nicely in its place right now. Without the handle.

selizabeth, you made me laugh out loud!! i am experiencing pain that is not controlled with tylonal or ibuprofen, it is controlled with percocet left over from my surgery, but i am 99% sure mine is contributed to the edema i had prior to rads and rads are just making it worse. unless i am laying flat on my back, i am in pain but the pain is tolerable until about 3-4 pm when i am assuming gravity is taking over :0 my skin still looks good but i am only 6 treatments in, so not a good barometer at this point.

mckenna - thanks for adding me into the list!
selizabeth ;-DDD
Jan24 - I also had #18 this morning. Tired. Skin is doing good so far, little pinkinsh, but there are still 15 to go.. so we shall see. Boobie is feeling tighter (there is a silicone implant). I pray it won't get worse up to the point where it won't be comfortable to live with. I hear that the scars keep contracting for MONTHS after finishing rads.

Silvia - it will be nice to compare as we get further into this. My skin is red, no tightness yet (no implants).
I'm half italian so I'm hoping my Italian genes will help me out in the skin department.

I finished last Tuesday-- 25 sessions -- had trouble the last 3 days -- and just seeing the light now --
All I can say is to slather your breast, nipple and armpit with lotion as often as you can --- look after it. I am very tanned - look dirty -- peeled under my breast and my armpit and believe it or not but my nipple -- ouch! I have used polysporin and cool compresses and saline soaks -- the saline soak and cool compresses gave me wonderful relief.
No bra either unless I had too -- I have been wearing a cammie with a shelf bra - inside out so that I have something under my breasts -- skin on skin causes irritation --
I am sure that I am now on the mend. Take care of your skin - I am not sure you can stop all the problems but you can try.
All the best ladies.

Not too bad - starting to feel normal again :-) I've still got some eye issues and some stiff/sore muscles, but I started some liquid amino acids and the muscle issue has almost resolved and started back on the antioxidents (temporary) and the eyes are starting to feel better. Not looking forward to Rads or Tam, but what can ya do :-( How are you feeling????

Doing OK, considering how much this body went through these past few months. Just feeling very tired and nauseous from rads. I have absolutely no energy. And sleeping is hard due to hot flashes and who knows what.. so I am getting up every few hours.

Congrats Joanne! It's great to get to the finish line. I found the effects continued for about two more weeks after my last tx before winding down. My worst complaint was the intense itch on my upper chest. My burn is now healed and I have a rad tan, like a large bathing suit top.
Just keep up the moisturizing routine three times a day and you'll be back in fine shape in no time.

good morning everyone. i asked if i could do two rads in one day so i could end on a friday not a monday and he said no. i also asked how after doing xrays on monday i am in such a different position and which week was i not getting my rads properly. he said that was a valid concern and will speak with the techs to see what is going on. got pain meds and a compression bra to help with the edema but my skin still looks good not even pink yet. 7 down, 18 to go ;)
how is everyone doing this week.

I finish at the end of June but not sure of the date.
Had #6 yesterday. Skin OK so far. But last night slept very poorly. Each night I feel warmer and warmer. Any suggestions for how to get a good night's sleep? I have heard Benadryl. Maybe Nyquil by the end of this

Mopsy as long as you are not taking Tamoxifen yet you can take Benadryl or Nyquil -- otherwise you cannot ---

mopsy, i am using percocet, but it is for my edema, however except for last night i generally get a good nights sleep :) i cannot believe you don't know your end date, i need to see that finish line :) how many treatments do you have to do? if you physically touch my boobs at the same time the left feels warmer but i don't know if internally mine is feeling warmer from the rads or the edema.
joanne & chicken, thanks for helping out us may/june rad girls.

Silviazara - can you take anything to help with the sleeping? Maybe Ativan? Sleep has got to help overall with the nausea and getting thru rads. I'm getting the hot flashes too...missed 2 periods so far and seem to get a couple flashes around 11ish at nite. I guess the nausea is not uncommon...I don't do well with that so I'm hoping that won't be one of my side effects. I'm having 25 treatments and 6 boosts - 31 total. How many do you have left?

I started my mammosite rad treatment yesterday. A short but intense treatment. This treatment is 2X daily for 5 days and then I'm done. I'm already having fatigue symptoms and they didn't think I would feel that until towards the end of the week. Oh well, 3/7 done and keep on cooking!

Joanne congrats on finishing rads! It is very scary how you had no problems till #22 and then all of sudden! Hope you will heal quickly now.
AEM - I am sure I can take sleep meds. Just don't want to get used to anything. In my case it is not just rads or chemo, it is Lupron shots (to put me to menopause) that I have been taking since December and will be taking for years. I am hoping to be able to manage without any sleeping pills. But it is tough to sleep.
I am having 25 treatments + 8 boosts. I have 6 treatments left, and I will be having another simulation next Wednesday for the boosts.
I am using MiaDerm and Shea butter. That butter seems to take away redness quite a bit.

Very pink under my arm.I am useing radioplex, and aloe.I have had 2 lumpectomies, a port put in chemo for 18 weeks (yuk) finised that on march 20th. I am also on Herceptin until December, every 3 weeks. I had a dexi scan and because I have bone loss i will be going on Tamoxifen at the end of radiation. I am looking forward to the end of radiation.

Does anyone have a problem with itching?...sugestions?

Jitters - glad you found the thread!
I go for my tats and whatever else they do for the set up next Tuesday. The week after I'll start rads. I have 30 treatments coming. I'll be done about the middle of July.

jitters....itching? Where? Do you mean your head or your rad site?
I had itching when my hair started to grow in...it felt sooo good like FINALLY there was movement from the hair follicles. I rubbed and rubbed and massaged my scalp. I am 15 weeks PFC and am loving my new "short shag".

Mopsey - weird about feeling warmer and warmer -- me too, but I can't tell if it is just because it is 105F outside
Welcome Jitters, you are almost there!!!
Hi Neeners, Hope you are feeling well and healed from surgery.
Silvia - I wondered about Shea Butter, I am already overdoing on the "product" on my breast (Miaderm, Vit E - primarily on the lumpectomy scar, Aloe, and top it off with some Emu oil before I go to bed) - otherwise I would give it a try!
Mckenna - so sorry about the edema, sounds horrible. Hope you are still holding up well otherwise.
Day 2 and all is still "relatively" normal -- other than I have extremely soft breasts right now (I treat the other one too, so it won't get jealous).
Happy day Ladies.

Seriously, I had a little itching at the rad site so I would just slather on more cream...some nights I was afraid I would slide out of bed!

Well girls I'm pleased to report that I finished my rads today. My skin did amazingly well......no peeling, little red and a little itchy and some fatigue although not every day. I'm also not sure if fatigue is from treatment or lack of sleep each night. Worst part of all this for me has been the dam night sweats. Everything else I flew thru with no problems. On my skin I used an aloe spray (all natural) and sprayed several times a day. Worked great and I'm happy with the result. Looking forward to finding my new normal and living life. Good luck to all you ladies that are just starting or in the middle.

Welcome lemon.
Just sitting here waiting for #8
Ro said to take two aleve in the am and two in the evening so I did that yesterday and did not need pain meds. Lets hope this combo does the trick for the edema.
Are you guys getting the hot flashes from rads or other aspects of treatment?
Have a nice day two more days until a 3 day break :)
