Im not sure exactly what your asking but Avastin is a drug that is used with chemo, usually stage IV.  They did have a clinical trial for BC patients that were considered high risk for reoccurance, they were given a placebo or avastin with their standard treatment.  The trial has since been suspended.  I did this trial.

As far as something like femara for ER-.....If your Her2+ theres herceptin.  But if your triple negative, no not at this time, there is nothing you can take like that.

I hope I answered some of your questions

There is an Avastin trial, which I'm currently in.  It is my understanding that Avastin is currently approved and used for Stage IV BC and a few others.  The trial is to see if Avastin will lower the risk of recurrance of breast cancer.  However, it enrollment was suspended.

I'm currently on Avastin/Xeloda for liver mets, so far the treatment has me stable.  I'm stage 4 and hoping that this will help me remain so!

Hi, Do you know if they use Avastin & Zeloda for skin mets, also? I origianlly had Cytoxene and Taxotere. She did not give me Adriamycin with those as so thought it would be too toxic for me as I am already disabled. I had a lumpectomy 5/08 1.5 cm. After the chemo and before the double mast. they gave me those chemos. When they did the mast. I was filled with cancer. In Aug 09 I developed skin mets around my surgical scar. My PET was positive and they started rad. I had 35 rds. Now onc #1 wants to give me Adriamycin (I am allergic to anything that ends in mycin) (she said she would give me lots of steroids) Went and got a second Opinion and Onc. #2 wants to put me on Avastin & Zeloda. Onc. #1 says that is for distant met not local reocurrence. I am so confused and have to tell them by Wed. what I want to go with. My new PET was clean. Path report not back yet on biopsy of one of the bumps still there.

I was placed in the Avastin arm of a clinical trail a couple of weeks ago:  Randomized phase II 2x2 factorial trial with the addition of carboplatin and/or bevacizumab to neoadjuvant weekly paclitaxel followed by dose-dense AC in hormone receptor-poor/HER2-negative resectable breast cancer.

I've been on Avastin since Dec. '08 along with chemo (Gemzar/Carbo Dec-Sept, now only Gemzar).  My last scan was Sept and I'm stable.  Next scan is Dec. 10th.  I am stage IV, triple neg. I am NOT part of a clinical trial.  PARP inhibitors are also used for triple negs now but only in clinical trials. I think they are similar to Avastin.
