Well today I just read on the internet that taking out ovaries before menopause can double your chance of getting lung cancer. And on top of that your chances of getting dimentia is higher. One thing just leads to another. I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago and thankfully I kept my ovaries. At 52, I'm just about through menopause and my gyn said mine all getting all shriveled up. In another couple years maybe I'll get them out. By then it will be o.k. Its only before menopause.

Its important to first quantify the risk of lung cancer before evaluating the impact of doubling your chance of getting it. You of course need to weigh this against the benefits. For some women who cannot tolerate tamoxifen and are premenopausal, shutting down or removing the ovaries may be an important option. I'd like to hear more about this subject before drawing any firm conclusion. |

And...are the people who got lung cancer smokers ? I think we need to be more enquiring when interpreting information like this. Cheers |
