I have just heard about a new Tamoxifen study that will be starting soon. Does anyone have any information about this? Thanks - Tammy

No, but I'd love to know what it is, and if there is a way of joining it. Caroline Caroline

This is a study report just released. Looking around I don't find any new Tamoxifen clinical trial as yet. Posted November 20, 2009 CYP2D6 predicted treatment outcome in tamoxifen-treated metastatic breast cancerhttp://www.hemonctoday.com/articlePrint.aspx?type=print&rID=50816 It cannot be emphasized too strongly that treatment of each patient is a highly individualized matter. Are you referring to the "SOFT" study where they are comparing tamoxifen alone vs. tamoxifen with ovarian suppression in premenopausal women? My onc just told me about this because she is trying to decide what to do with me now that I am just about done with chemo and ready to think about hormone therapy (I was "weakly" positive for ER.) I don't know if it is a study in progress already or if it is recruiting. Anyone else know more? Diagnosis: 7/17/2009, IDC, <1cm, Grade 3, 0/1 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |

I read that SOFT is getting such poor recruitment that it will not likely fulfill enrolment. I'm thinking many Oncologists are simply recomending ovarian suppression outside of the trial and thus the trial has little recruitment. Its a shame, because within the trial useful data will be accumulated to help others later in making the decision. |
