HI,
I seem to be taking an unvoluntary break from AHT ! After taking Tamoxifen for more than two years I was switched to Arimidex end of August. My doctor felt, that time and hormone tests had shown that I was permanently postmenopausal. Since then, to my surprise, less and less side effects under Arimidex! Now a number of body signs I don´t want to get into any further, suggest a reason for that - there is at least some estrogen at work again! I say some, because I doubt that we are talking of a normal cycle here. But I read that AI s can stimulate the ovaries, so that´s what seems to be happening.
Now I wonder, has anybody else had a similar experience? What did your doctors do (have got apointment on 11/9, have already had blood sample taken for another hormone test) - did you have to go back on Tamoxifen? I am a bit concerned about that because I heard that with lobular bc Tamoxifen resistance seems to be more likely, so I would rather want to stay on the AI.
Do you think, a couple of weeks in the presence of estrogen are going to do a lot of harm or should I say "good" to any left over tumor cells?
Thanks for your opinions!

Eating Canned Tomatoes ~ The problem: The resin linings of tin cans contain bisphenol-A, a synthetic estrogen that has been linked to ailments ranging from reproductive problems to heart disease, diabetes and obesity. Unfortunately, acidity (a prominent characteristic of tomatoes) causes BPA to leach into your food. Studies show that the BPA in most people's body exceeds the amount that suppresses sperm production or causes chromosomal damage to the eggs of animals. "You can get 50 mcg of BPA per liter out of a tomato can, and that's a level that is going to impact people, particularly the young," says vom Saal. "I won't go near canned tomatoes." Just to finish off this thread: I was right about the estrogen! It´s not much - "last reserves being mobilised" it said in the report. They measured 6,8 last time and now it´s at 54.Preovulatory level or something like that, meaning, no proper circle. My gyn even considered for me to just continue on Arimidex and wait until it passed, but as my tumor marker had gone up for the second time I preferred going back to Tamoxifen. Have been taking Tamoxifen now for 6 days and already feel that it is working - for example eyes red and dry again etc. But the hot flushes haven´t returned yet! But I don´t care about the SEs, I am feeling protected again, that´t all that counts! I have found my balance again. If everything goes well (tumor marker down again next time ) I will continue on Tamoxifen until the five years are over and then go on taking Femara for another 5 years. dx 01/19/2006, right b. 10x9 cm ILC, left b. 0.5 cm, neoad. chemo, bilateral, rads, after 2,5 years of Tamoxifen now on Arimidex
