I have been prescribed Actonel Combi* - a once a month treatment for  severe osteoporosis.

Has anyone got any experiences with this?

Hi bondiblonde.I'm on Actonel 75 for the past 12-13 months because I have osteopenia (one step before osteoporosis).I didn't notice any side effects or anything apart from one time that I did a horrible mistake:I took the pill and went to bed.The next day and for about 20 days I had a terrible stomachache. As the doctor explained you should keep your back erect and generally not move for about 30 minutes after you've taken the pill.In general it has helped me reduse my osteopenia levels.

Hi,

I was on Actonel for about 4 months.  It did a job on my stomach, alot of gas and upset all the time.  I finally had to go off of it.  I took 2 months off and then went on Bonivia.  After 8 hours I got jaw pain.  It went away with Advil but came back for 3 days.  Good indication that this too is not for me.  I will deal with the chance of osteoporosis.  Right now I am on Arimidex and have osteopia.

Our experiences will all be different.  Give it a try and if you have any side effects stop and talk to your doctor.  Good luck to you.

HI, I have been taking actonel once a week pill (35 mg) for 1 year and have not had any side effects from it. I take it first thing in morning with lots of water and wait 2 hours prior to first food of the day. So in order to help time pass I do elliptical for 1 hour so my body stay straight up for at least 1 hour.

Marian:  My packet says to wait 1/2 hour and stay upright.  My pharmacist says to drink lots of water and wait one hour!

So, I usually wait the hour.  As I understand, it's absorbed in the intestine so, along with a couple of glasses of water to help it along, I guess it takes at least 30 minutes to make its way to my gut!  But I give it an extra 30 mins to be on the safe side.  Have been on it since September (once a week) and absolutely no s/e's Smile.

Hi Linda. Why don't you take Actonel 75 which is only 2 pills/month for 2 consecutive days?It saves you from all this trouble of waiting and having to stay upright.
