Y'all,
I'm curious as to whether or not your respective oncologists did any baseline blood work before any treatments--hormonal or otherwise. Nothing complicated, a simple CBC.
I asked about this and it was dismissed (though I have not yet dropped the subject) and won't take a damned thing until I get a sufficient answer.
Any thoughts?

I started with chemo and you had better believe they do bloodwork before they give you chemo.
I just filled my first rx of tamoxifen and they did not do any bloodwork though.

My onc doesn't do blood work. He leaves it up to my PCP. My PCP asks me what I want drawn. So, I have concerns too...... I can't wait for my 5 years to be up!

Thanks, everyone. I did meet with my oncologist for a good discussion and blood work was drawn (estrogen, CBC, liver enzymes). Just took my second dose.
And so the journey begins . . .

I was a pin cushion before EVERY treatment. Didn't get chemotherapy until oncologist looked at all the numbers.

Hi everyone
I had a full blood count before every chemo session. Liked it very much - covered sodium and potassium levels as well as Alkaline Phosphatase and AST/ALT levels re the liver.
Helped me to keep on top of what was happing to me.
Best wishes

I had baseline blood work before I started radiation. I just had a bone density test (osteopena). I see my onco on Thursday and will be starting Hormonal Therapy. I have lots of questions about the different meds. What in these meds causes weight gain. Do they just make you hungry? I need to know what the connection is.
