Mena hasn't posted here in over a year and doesn't participate here but I thought a few of you who remember her might be interested in how she is doing. She has significant metasteses in her lungs and recently found out that her liver is now involved. In January she had severe pain and breathing problems, but had a nice little remission after undergoing radiation. She is now having pain and breathing problems again, but is undergoing a new round of chemo and is hopeful that this will work.
She has a trip planned with her family to California in August and desperately hopes that she will be well enough to go. She is putting up a good fight...she's not willing to give up. Your prayers and positive thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Mena, you go girl!!!

Good news!!! Finally talked to Mena and she was a bit under the weather, but from the chemo, you know fatigue, feelling foggy (as if you didn't know), but the lung symptoms have dissipated so either the chemo is working or your prayers!!! Perhaps a little of both. I had the pleasure of reading each and every message here to her, and let me tell you, she enjoyed it!! It is so nice to know that you are here for her. She is happy we started the thread and sends her love to all of you. California may be in her future, or even the Bahamas, they haven't decided yet. Pintanga, it's been a long time, but she remembers you and is sorry to hear that you have to come back now, but glad for the company. I'm off into the boonies this weekend, so I won't be posting. Let's hope Mena's even better next week... Miz |

Hey guys, just here with the latest update and unfortunately it is not a good one. Called Mena from the road this AM, she was in the hospital with pain and a possible UTI. When I called her she was in very severe pain and 20 minutes overdue for her pain meds. At first she asked me just to talk and pull her mind away but after just a few minutes she told me she couldn't take it any more and she had to get off the phone. I asked her if there was anything I could do, like call the nurse myself and she said no please just pray. So we did. An hour later I sent her text message hoping to hear that she'd gotten her meds and was feeling OK, but when I asked if she'd gotten her meds yet...the answer was NO. A few minutes later we drove into Canada and lost phone contact. It is hard for me to understand in this day and age how someone like Mena could be in a hospital, neglected and suffering as she is. Please let us all pray that things get better for Mena very quickly. We have talked about hospice before, but to her that would be totally giving up. Miz |
