Mena hasn't posted here in over a year and doesn't participate here but I thought a few of you who remember her might be interested in how she is doing.  She has significant metasteses in her lungs and recently found out that her liver is now involved.  In January she had severe pain and breathing problems, but had a nice little remission after undergoing radiation.  She is now having pain and breathing problems again, but is undergoing a new round of chemo and is hopeful that this will work.

She has a trip planned with her family to California in August and desperately hopes that she will be well enough to go. She is putting up a good fight...she's not willing to give up.  Your prayers and positive thoughts are greatly appreciated. 

Mena, you go girl!!!

Talked to Mena a short time ago and she is OK...very, very sick, but fighting.  She asked me to pray to help get her out of this ordeall...we have and we will, and I immediately get a very strong, quiet feeling back that all will be well.

Today I took a bike ride across the peninsula where we are staying. I dedicated the ride to you. There were some serious hills, where I slowed down dramatically...... but I just kept peddaling and made it over 15 miles, filled with pine trees, birch, billowing blue skies and a glad gentle breeze to keep me company.

I send you that feeling of accomplishment and a muffin from "Grandma's Bakery" which is my destination and rest stop at the half way marker.

Your sisters are united in our concern for you.

I sent her a big hug over the phone and she told me..."that felt good!" 
 
Up until now, Mena had been too sick to discuss her medical situation in much detail, but the main thing that has been going on is an infection in her circulatory system.  Antibiotics are now helping. She has been in bed and lying down a lot, and there is fluid in her lungs as well, but that she is now sitting up and coughing, perhaps that will abate as well.
 
She sounds positive.  The messages here are very important to her...prayers ARE working, keep 'em coming!!!!!!

She's really in a rough spot -- I know you're holding her up, while she holds you up.

Mena was well enough for a nice little chat today, she had just come back from x-rays on her chest and the only major complaint was fatigue.  She sounds so relaxed to be out of that crisis she was in last week.  Her doctor says she may be able to come off oxygen, which means she might be able to go home.  But Mena is happy right now to be where she is, with the doctors and nurses taking care of her.
 
Faith...they must have heard your prayers!!!  Mena is very thankful for all your prayers, they DO make a difference!
 
Saint, Mena is very concerned about your current state health and I will pass on updates to her as we get them.  
 
I was away from the computer when we talked, so I didn't get to read her messages, but will do so next time we talk.

Today Mena called me...she's feeling better, she's off her pain pump and in a few days she may go home, but as positive we feel about this, there is the concern that life may never be the same.  She will need some help at home, and she is considering hospice...not in the sense of giving up, but in the sense of improving her health and well being.  I've been pushing this, because I think she needs help, and also because I have relatives and friends who have improved and lengthened their lives after calling in hospice.
