Good morning Stage 4 sisters. I've just spoken with Saint and received her permission to start a thread asking for prayers and support for her. I've placed it under the "Prayers" section of the boards.

She is feeling VERY poorly today and was given a day off of her rads treatment.

Tomorrow is her son's high school graduation. Thru tears we talked about being this close to the milestone -- and the beast attempting to snatch that away from her.

It would mean so much to have your voices in unision offering support at this time.

If you can navigate to the prayer area, please add your voice.

I don't suppose it would be awful to have a second thread unfolding in this section as well.

Edited to add the outcome of the graduation ceremony: Saint was NOT able to attend the event.

I just got off the phone with Saint. It's Monday, after all.

She is back to the hospital for another transfusion. Now that I have sat with her for one, from beginning to end, I have a much better sense of what is involved.

That was Fri, concluding @ 3:30. This is Monday @ 3:30, she was half way thru.

You do the math. She spent much of yesterday resting. She made it to church, but sat thru the whole service. (An enormous consession from SuperWoman.)

She did have her Navelbine treatment earlier today at the recommendation of her onc.

This is now a bit of a chicken & egg conundrum. Navelbine will hopefully help in the long run, but is that what's whipping her in the short term??? No one seems to know for certain.

The pics I posted above, I also posted on FB. They so concerned her sister in Europe that she called this afternoon -- very concerned over Saint's 'color.'

So let the prayers, good wishes and encouraging posts continue. She's in a great need for all of your good thoughts and supportive words.

Hope you get through today OK Saint.  Now, rest up!!  That's a order!!

Saint I pray they will be able to resolve this problem causing you to need so many transfusions.  You are a very lucky lady to have so much love in this world.  Now if our prayers can be heard for you to get well enough to not need these dreaded transfusions.  I've been thinking about you lately but the time is always too late to call.  I'm there for you whatever you need.

Tough news update.

After her one day reprieve yesterday (due to the steroids) Saint is in a challenging place today.

She has now developed a very bad cold, with wracking cough. We spoke over the phone late this afternoon, but literally every time she spoke she started a coughing jag. We kept the whole conversation to about three minutes total.

This dear sister needs all of the encouragement & support you can send.

She was still celebrating having the one good day yesterday. She also mentioned how grateful she was to everyone for posting on her new thread, "What keeps you going?" She said that more than ever she will be relying on the assembled wisdom of our tribe.

Well, crap in a hat.  You've had 2 bouts of flu and now a cold.  I think you're set for the rest of the fall and winter -- no more sickness, you've had it all!!!  Chicken noodle soup, tea, and hot toddies are on the menu.

I'm going to be in Ottawa over the weekend but will try to sneak a peek at bc.org to see how you're doing.  Mom still doesn't know about my BC sooooo.....  Since I have this gawd-awful brillo pad hairstyle I might have to confess, or say again I got a terrible haircut....

Anyhoooo -- you rest up -- and take steamy bubble baths.  Your hubby must spoil you until you're well again.  If he feels like giving you a pedicure while you're lazing in the tub tell him to go for it!

Take care of yourself sweet Saint!

Elizabeth

I was just looking at your pictures again.   You have a beautiful family and a beautiful friend in Faith too.    I am sorry you have a nasty cold.    Drink up lots of tea and rest up dear sister.   I take (and give my kids too) a little natural product called Oscillococcinum.   It is homeopathic medicine.   They are little vials of pellets that dissolve.  I am telling you that it really helps in getting you over the hump.   My oldest came down with a nasty cough and cold which started yesterday.   I have given her four doses and tonight she just has a little lingering cough and seems nearly all better.   It has always worked for us.    Obviously your system is pretty taxed but every little bit helps!!!!    There is just so much crap going around right now.

I pray for you every night.   You have a beautiful family and circle of friends.  We need and want you feeling good.     Hang tough dear lady!!

Jennifer
