My wife just finished chemo 1 month ago ( Sept 09 ), this is the 2ed time in 2 years, roughly 3 to 4 weeks after chemo her scan showed a hot spot ( it was allready there ) on her hip that seemed to be growing......I thought chemo should have taken care of it....or at least slowed it down....when my wife recieved the scan results she said it was a good scan because it hasen't spread to any organs..... but I am concerned that 1 spot is getting larger so soon after chemo so now on to radation again, I asked her onc about trials but the way she put it was if we go to trials we cant do herception and aremidex ( or maybe I took it that way - because she said she wasn't giving up on her yet ) she was on herception and aremidex last year but it still spread to her brain and a couple spots on her bone.....I read on here and other places bone mets seem to be the easier to control.. rather than other organs....why do you think were having such a hard time and does anybody have any imput on any trials

Is your wife getting Zometa for her bones? I had bone mets and in addition to my chemo (Taxotere, Carboplatin,Herceptin) I was also on Zometa. I still take Herceptin and Zometa today. My bone mets resolved and healed completely. If your wife is HER2 positive, I would think she would be on Herceptin right from the start. If she is progressing on Herceptin, I believe there are still trials for newer Her2neu drugs you might ask about. Where do you live? You can search https://www.breastcancertrials.org/index.jsp and put in your wife's diagnosis details, to search for something that might work. 1998 Stage II 2 positive nodes, ER+/PR-/Her2-, 4XAC, Tamoxifen 5 yrs, Sept 2008 hip fracture, bone & liver mets, Doing well on Arimidex, Faslodex & Zometa. 08/2009 CT scan: slowly shrinking liver mets. Postponing chemo for now :)
