I have been on the clinical trial for Super herceptin or MCC-DM1 since January.  My lesions continued to shrink and then for the last 2 months were stable.  I just  got my results from this weeks CT scan and I am NED.   I had cancer in my liver, lungs and lymph nodes & all are clear.  After almost 3 1/2 years of living with Stage IV I never dreamed this would happen. For all you Her 2 positive ladies I hope results like mine will help to make this drug available to everyone as soon as possible.

Cathy this is great!!! So happy for you. I was in the TDM-1 trial in san francisco and sadly just got dropped because we think it stopped working. Kept me stable since March and definitely one of the more tolerable treatments I have done.

Wonderful news!

HI Cathy,

Thanks for sharing!  I have never heard of Super Herceptin-sure gives me hope!  I have had regular ol' Herceptin for 6 years and my liver mets have been in remission for over 5 years.

It's great to know that there is something else out there in case regular Herceptin stops working.

Amazing news catgo!!  I am on herceptin and tykerb and very happy to see there is something else out there on the horizon.  I wonder if this stuff is able to pass the blood brain barrier?  I tried to find out the info online, but didn't see anything.  Thanks so much for participating in this clinical trial!!  lisa

Cathy,  I'm so HAPPY to hear you fantastic news.  Like you...I've recurred in several places...rt axilla, femur, ilium, & sacrum.  (Also possible liver & chest wall?)  So to hear your results is really exciting.  I'm hearing such GREAT things about this TDM1 trials.  I just went to see Dr. Slamon...pioneer of Herceptin.  I needed a 2nd opinion since I've had a recurrence.  His 1st choice for me was getting into a TDM1 trial.  He smiles when he explains how this TDM1 works and the GREAT results they are seeing!  Unfortunetly because of the HMO I'm in I can't get into the one I wanted.  :(  But that being said I know of a few ladies on the Her2support board that are NED thanks to TDM1.  One woman was having no luck on any of the previous drug combo's she had...but once she was on the tdm1 it was working right away!  I find this VERY exciting.

I just hope and pray they get this fast tracked to be available for all of us that need it.  I want...and need it now myself.  I'm stage IV and this kind of news gives me hope!  Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful news.  Wishing you a long endless road of NED.  (Thank you for joining the trial...it's woman like you that are helping us win this war on cancer for newer more targeted therapies.)  Bless you.

Such a wonderful news and I feel more hopeful now. It is good to know that Herceptin alone can cure the cancer without chemo drugs. Will search more about this trial. Thank you, Cathy, for sharing.

That is fan-freakin-tastic news!  I've been looking forward to when they make it available.  I have trouble with most of the chemos making my neuropathy worse, so I'm hoping it's available sometime next year.

Cathy,

Great News! Like the women before me have stated. Thank you for participating in a trial. Because of women like you, more and more research is coming to fruition.

What an awesome break through for all of us, the more they find new treatments, the better off all of us will be. It is a comfort to know that more and more targeted therapies are becoming available to all different types of Breast cancer. HooRAH!

Cathy, this is great to hear.

Although I'm Her2-, my onc told me when it pops back up somewhere else that it could be Her2+.  Also I was reading the deal about getting Her2 ELISA Serum blood test... it's on the IBC forum... said that she tested Her2+ twice (with serum test) even though multiple biopsies returned Her2-... Her2 ELISA measures CTC (Circulating Tumor Cell)... I'm going to ask my onc about this my next visit (December) because my biopsy showed Her2 equivocal but considered negative.

carcharm,  I sent you a PM and tried as best I can to answer your questions about this new super herceptin...otherwise known as "TDM1".   And don't worry about your post...you aren't here to start trouble and just wanted information...so no problems.  :)  I am pretty sure the rest of the ladies here would agree.  :)

Cathy,

Congrats on NED!!!!!!!!!!  What amazing, wonderful news!  I just started a TDM1 + Pertuzamab trial 7 weeks ago, so I am especially inspired by your story!!  I had my first set of scans last week and they showed that after 2 cycles everything appeared to be shrinking (I have mets to the hilar lymph nodes and lungs) :).  We were elated with the news!  I pray that you stay NED forever and that I, and many, many other women out there, will follow shortly behind you :).  Thank you for your post....you have made my day, week, month, etc!!

Neil
