I hate to have to say this but Lydia passed away this morning.  I had tried to call her yesterday afternoon but she was not feeling well to take my call.  I just went to try and call her.  In fact I no sooner left a message on her cell phone that her husband Ron called me.

Apparently she developed a fever yesterday and they took her to the ER.  With her white cell count being 0 they had to watch even closer for any sign of infection.  They admitted her and transferred her to another hospital in a larger city.  This morning they put her on the ventilater to help her breath so she could fight the infection and she coded out.

Ron said she had all her arrangements planned out and there will be a celebration of life.  I;ll let you know when it will be as soon as I know.  Ron said he will check in to read this tread.

Ron, I told you earlier and I truly mean it.  I am so so sorry for your loss.  You seem like a wonderful man and I'm glad you and Lydia had some womderful times together in your life.  Considering how she has been this last week I find it so hard to believe this has happened.  Please accept my condoloences.  I'm going to miss her.

I will miss Lydia...we would go and have breakfast together (as well as a few other women who have been battling breast cancer)...her spirit was always phenomenal. I'm envisioning her, up in heaven, having a little sit down with God, telling him that he needs to wipe out cancer from everyone. She's there, always in our corner.

I love you, Lydia...

Ron and family, please know that you all have my prayers and my deepest sympathies.

No.. no way.  How does this happen so fast?  It was only a couple of weeks ago that she was organizing the raising of money for Lisa's scooter.  She was all about helping others.  I knew she was having a tough time, that was obvious from her posts.  But this one I did NOT see coming.  I am sick about this.

Ron, what can I say that has not already been said.  I'm so so sorry for the loss of this lovely woman.  Damn it.  As Renee said, I, too, am speechless.

Lydia, you were an angel on earth and now you're an angel in heaven.

I am sickened to hear this sad, sad, news.   I can't believe Lydia is no longer with us.  We were all so inspired by her.  She went on to do things she wanted in spite of dealing with all the pain from this insidious disease.  I hate this cancer!!!!!  We are losing so many wonderful women, it is so unfair.  To her family, please accept my sincere condolences.  Lydia was a wonderful friend to us and will be missed.

What a wonderful legacy to leave behind, such a generous soul -- thinking of others, organizing us into action on behalf of Lisa. Lydia we will remember your taking a leadership role in improving the life of our sister and in the process giving us an example of what we are capable of creating.

Ron my heart-felt wishes of strength for you in this time of unthinkable loss. There are no words adequate to express the disbelief at the swiftness of this final chapter. I am so sorry. So very sorry. Thank you for letting us know.

May you find encouragement and support in your community and family. May they support you as you grapple with the reality of your loss.
