I just read this in this site: Physical examination of the breasts: Your doctor may be able to feel a small lump in the breast during a physical examination, although a noticeable lump is rare with DCIS. In cases when DCIS cannot be felt during a physical exam, it can often be detected using mammography.
I posted 6 months ago because they found microcalcifications (had the call back mammogram) but was told to wait and have a follow-up mammogram in 6 months. I found microcalcifications might be a marker for DCIS. I am waiting for the appointment now. My doc said since back in May he couldn't find a lump...there is nothing there! My question though...which was ignored by my doctor..is....are microcalcifications sore? It feels like a weight is pushing right where the report says there are microcalcifications. My doctor said I just strained my muscles in everyday lifting of things. Guess I will know after the follow-up of 6 months!

None of my microcalcifications have been sore. I had microcalcifications (picked up by routine mammo) for my first biopsy, which showed LCIS. I had microcalcifications a year later, they were biopsied, and were ductal hyperplasia (not atypical ductal hyperplasia.) LCIS (and nothing worse) is normally an incidental finding, but is unusual.
