I posted this first in the wrong section (the Just Diagnosed) so am reposting it here:

Hi, I just signed up.  About a week ago I noticed my breast was itchy, and looked in a mirror and saw that below my areola I have a round bright pink patch, about two inches in diameter (I am large-breasted) which was very sore when I touched it.  I know this sounds like it could be inflammatory breast cancer, but, it has a sore in the middle of it which has been bleeding all week.  I know, everyone will say I should get to a doctor and I will when I can, but right now I am in a crisis situation with my son and his emotional/chemical dependence situation.  I just needed to reach out and hear some feedback if you have a minute.  Thanks a lot.

Don't wait!  Go get this checked out.  It may be nothing but, inflammatory BC is very aggressive.  You need to make sure this is not what is going on.

please, please, please go get this checked out. Just a little advice, if ur insurance will allow skip the ob or gp...go straight to a breast specialist, if you can a dr. That specializes or is very familiar with ibc. It very well could be a b9 condition but cancer comes in many differant forms and if this were to be ibc treatment CANNOT be put off.  Maybe you should post on the ibc forum, read through some of the threads, specifically the one when they tell their stories about how they were dx. you will see evryones story is unique. Ok, well sorry if I seem pushy I just think it is so important for us to be very aggressive when it comes to breast health! Good luck and please post and give us updates!!

Thanks for the replies.

The large red patch pretty much cleared up; what I have now is just what looks like a  very large boil/cyst.  It drained all week and is still draining just a very minute amount of a slight yellowish tinted watery fluid.  I feel certain is was/is a cyst, as it has a hole in the middle of it, a a bright white ring around the outer edge which I know is white blood cells fighting infection.  I have kept it clean and dry (with mini pads in my bra) and though it isn't a whole lot better, it isn't any worse.  I hate taking antibiotics if I can avoid it so will start applying neosporin today to see if that can clear the infection.  If it isn't better in a couple weeks I will definitely get to a doctor, except at this point I would hate to this late in the year, if they wanted to do expensive testing I would want it to apply to my deductible starting Jan. 1.  Well I hope that wasn't too much information!  lol
