Roxy,

Coffee I have not heard of being bad, but it could be bad for you today AND the good for you tomorrow!! I have decided that I'm not going to worry about some of these thing.  If it's bad for me, I'm hoping my onc or pcp will tell me.  What I am TRYING to do is to follow the "everything in moderation" thoughts.  Well, this morning, my dh had cinnamon rolls for breakfast waiting for me, then my librarian bribed me with a blueberry donut!!  SHAME on me.  Oh, well.  The bribe worked and she got her program fixed....

I don't know, I have two cups in the morning....if I have time, I have three.  I put creamer in it, and guess what's in there......either canola or soybean oil!  It's non dairy....so what ya wanna bet it's soy?  And you know, soy's not good either.

So, moderation I think.....but who knows?

I drink mostly decaf coffee WITH sugar.  The reason for decaf is I sometimes get tachycardia.  But a "real" cup of java tastes good.  I only drink two cups a day.  I'm not worried about it.

If you believe that the body acidity / alkalinity has an impact on bc then coffee is a no-no as it is said to cause acidity of the body.

I was a coffee queen and have switched to immense amounts of green tea since my dx.

Jennifer 'moderation' is an awesome virtue that I am lacking as I have this obsessive compulsive personality but I think yours is the best actually.

I rarely have more than two cups a day, so I'm not going to make a change. Maybe taper back to just one in the morning before work.  At work, I might have a second if I need a pick-me-up mid morning, but never anything past noon or it keeps me up.

I use 1-1/2 sugars and either whole milk or half & half. Don't like creamer substitutes. I don't think I'm doing any harm with my moderate intake.

I'm keeping my coffee.  I also use Splenda, but as soon as I am done with it, I'm switching or organic sugar and just going to use less.  I think I'd rather have the real thing instead of a chemical substitute.  My oncologist said to cut back my caffiene intake & I told her I cut out sodas, but have 2 cups of coffee per day.   She said that was ok.  My primary physician would rather I cut out caffiene period.

Coffee is fine to drink. Recent studies have also confirmed old studies that it is not problematic in a cancer patient.

As yourselves, I like a good cup of coffee. The flavor, the aroma, the warmth, it all fits nicely together for me.

I do drink a green tea in the afternoon, yet haven't been able to substitute it for my a.m. coffee.

Best to you coffee lovers,

I am keeping my coffee also!  The back and forth on whether coffee is beneficial or not continues.  I drink 1-2 cups in the morning and enjoy it.

Girls..for cryingoutloud!!! We have/had BREAST CANCER. If we can't enjoy one or two cups of coffee per day (especially those long slow ones in a nice cafe with friends) after all that we have been through....!!  I RARELY drank coffee, drank LITRES of green tea...still got bc. If coffee was a known carcinogen, it would be banned.  I'm with y'all on the sugar and extra chemicals. I'm reducing the 'added' sugar, and have ditched the lollies; but I'd rather have real organic sugar on the porridge than a chemical sub. Take care girls..We've been through so much. XX

Right on, kerry-lamb!  There is zero scientic evidence that coffee is harmful.  I am a coffee-holic(no sugar in it).  I drink 3-5 cups a day.  Always have.  It is comforting, helps with the weird taste in my mouth, and helps with fatigue.

I drink two cups in the morning, but I have switched to decag -- I now like flavored coffee like french vanilla -- helps compensate for the lack of caffeine.   And less caffeine is just healthier in general.

I love coffee.  We buy coffee bean and grind it ourselves.  I find Tim Hortons coffee divine, and after purchasing their ground coffee and making it at home we find the in-store cup of Tim Hortons coffee can not be duplicated at home.  Don't mind Star Bucks coffee every now and then either, just find it a wee bit stronger.  Flavored coffees every now and then we like too.

Studies have shown there are "slow caffeine metabolizers" and "fast caffeine metabolizers".
