hi everyone! sorry i've been mia - school is out and i'm back at work full time!
i have my FINAL EXPANSION tomorrow morning (it's actually just my overfill) and i hopefully will be able to schedule my exchange surgery too. i currently have 300cc's in each TE making me a FULL 32D. i guess i'll be living out the summer large - i'm expecting 75 cc's tomorrow which should leave me at a DD or F, holy moly! i can't wait to start the countdown clock to my soft new foobs. i'm getting anatomical shaped cohesive gels; more details tomorrow on the specifics.
hope everyone is hanging in there. some of these days are passing slowly but man, the weeks/months are flying by!

I just said keep going. lol I got a late start though because of skin issues so its not like I'm going to pass you up and be a GGG or anything. Let us know about those gels. I'm still undecided what kind I'm going to get.

changed my name-everyone talks about what they saw after their bmx- I laughed because I saw 2 fried eggs, sad and funny at the same time lol

Congrats on your last fill Still Snarky! Can you explain the overfill? Does the PS make a woman larger prior to final implants than she will be after final surgery?
I have to say that after my last fill my foobs feel a bit softer. I kept thinking I had a seroma forming on the right because I felt a knot and tenderness and shooting pains. The PS told me it was a damaged nerve hitting the expander. After the last fill I believe her, it seems better now, maybe it isn't pressing on the nerve so much.
Started chemo yesterday which I am sure will take my mind off any discomfort from my foobs. Plus I think I am learning to live them. Getting a bit easier to sleep on my side with the cute little heart shaped pillows the ACS woman brought me in the hospital.

Soyapepper: I agree on radically changing diet to improve health and fight cancer! Since my diagnosis 2April I have been roughly following the Anti-Cancer A New Way of Life diet proposed by Dr. David Servan-Schreiber, which is very evidence-based. I am lighter and feel healthier now than I have since college.
But in my case I am speculating that my BC could be provoked by too many hormones in my life -- natural and artificial. I had my one and only pregnancy and child very late in life (at age 42). That means I had monthly cycles and estrogen/progesterone flows for a long time and I am still menstruating at age 53 (that's why I am on tamoxifen). In the old days, most women were pregnant or breastfeeding for much of their adult life thereby avoiding some of those hormonal surges for extended years. And then there are so many artificial agents in meats, maybe plastics and chemicals, that could simulate hormonal effects and have "fed" the cancer. Since my cancer was E+P+, I'm assuming hormones could have played a role, feeding the cancer.
Servan-Schreiber says that we all have cancer cells in our bodies at all times, but only some are stimulated to start wreaking havoc. White sugar, processed flour and foods, some fats Omega-6, etc. have been shown to feed cancer cells. Some food items -- green tea, ground linseed/flaxseed, "power" fruits and vegetables -- have been shown to deter cancer growth.

Soyapepper: for my one-step BMX 16May, a soon as my surgical bandages were removed and my drains taken out on day 7, my PS had me wear a Triumph Triaction bra with a Marena Standard Implant Stabilizer Band (www.marenagroup.com) 24/7 for 4-6 weeks to keep the implants from moving. I figured out myself (duh!) that I needed two bras so that I could periodically wash (I wish he had mentioned so I didn't have to make a special trip to far away store to get the second one!).
I still had bandages over nipples (one real moved up and one constructed from excess breast skin) for a week and 3 weeks respectively. I was not to massage cream or massage at all during this time. I could shower, but he said it was important to blowdry gently to keep it dry. No soaking baths or swimming. Now at 4 weeks he had me apply an antibiotic and anti-scar cream on nipples and scars called Bepanthen Plus.
He thinks everything is healing nicely and so did not instruct me to massage the scars! He says I don't have to! Except this one part under my arm. But there are some skin wrinkles, excess skin on one intramammary fold that he wants to fix later.
Both nipples areola complex NAC are pretty scabby and gross looking still to me (but my husband assures me they do not look too bad, which is a bit of a comfort). Now dried skin and scabs slowly coming off. The constructed nipple has been black (!) from as soon as he took the bandage off. He is not sure if this nipple will be adequate and may require further fixing.
I never feel like I get specific info from my PS about what to do. It's all very vague and then when I come home, I realize he hasn't explained: how much cream? how often to apply? how to keep from getting goo all over bra? should I use non-stick wound pads or gauze on the NAC or would that slow the healing? do I still have to use blow-dryer if I am then smearing cream on?
Anyone have similar/different experiences?

Fearlessfoo, I had nipple sparing done but did not get all the creams, etc to do but my PS said I had 25% chance the nipples would necrose and die. I was very careful to not irritate them and after showers let them dry out before putting on clothing. My left nipple did turn black and into a scab which fell off in the shower one day. I was horrified to look and see how much came off. But it looks healthy and pink now, better than my right one!
Nibbana, I hope your oncotype scores came out ok. I went back for my 2nd one a week ago and the dr was 1 1/2 hours late. I was a bundle of nerves waiting for him! Mine indicated chemo
so I started that this week. My first tumor found at lumpectomy in March came back with a low enough score for Tamoxifen but the 2 additional found at my BMX in May was a stinker and we think it is what caused mets in1 lymph node.

I was not able to even think about nipple-sparing; tumor #2 was sub-areolar, grade 3 and HER2+ so we thought, nope, get rid of it. Had donated skin, which has been a blessing. I'll be honest, I wasn't able to look at the foob for the first month; someone else's skin and no nipple were just too much for me. Now I look and can't even tell where the donor skin ends and mine starts! It is still weird to not see a nipple, and my daughter said when I get my tat that it doesn't count as my first one.

Good news, no chemo, I scored a 10 on the Oncotype test.
Bad news, I fired my oncologist. I just scheduled my three month follow up with another doctor. The original one won't know me from Eve in three months, so she won't even notice. Oncologists know ll the chemistry, the latest research, the latest bulletins, but they have to realize there's a patient behind that too.
So now I haev to take my Tamoxifen and hope nothing blows up before three months are up!

I fired my oncologist because she wasn't at all like your oncologist. I absolutely LOVE my new oncologist! He is supportive, caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, collaborative, and has excellent bed-side manner. He is genuine and I can feel it in the little things that he does. For example, when I was admitted to the hospital at 3:00 a.m., he was there at my bedside at 8:00a.m. (the same morning!) When he received the results of my CT and PET scans yesterday, he called me in the evening to let me know the GOOD results (so I wouldn't have to sweat it until Monday). The first time I met with him I was having a he*! of a time with AC.., after writing everything down for me and switching up a few meds. he gave me his cell phone number and directed me to call him the day after my next chemo and let him know how I was doing. Maybe he goes above and beyond but the oncologist I "fired" would NEVER have done any of these things muchless make me feel like it was okay to ask questions and be collaborative in my treatment. She accused me of "directing my own treatment" and that was our last meeting. The first oncologist is somewhat new to the field and has a lot to learn. Don't get me wrong, I truely believe we all have to start out new and I respect the learning curve..., it just wasn't a good mix. In the end, I think we both learned something from it. IMHO it is of the utmost importance that we have a medical team behind us that makes us feel as if they've got our back. My new oncologist has my every body part and I am blessed to have his care!

I fired my oncologist because she delayed my oncotype test, then called me outside of the appointed time she was supposed to for a phone consultation. She has the bedside manner of a doorknob, and doesn't seem to listen patient's concerns. Just wham, bam, here's the numbers and stats.
These are the people who are supposed to be monitoring us, the ones who are supposed to have our backs. I need someone I can trust for that job.

DianaNM it's so tough going through it all. Maybe your relationship with your MO will get better further along in your treatment. I remember thinking, wow this doc gets $250 for the 15 min she takes to feel my boobs and tell me I'm doing really good. I built a really good relationship with the nurses there and I always feel cared for. Maybe start a thread for your state and see if any other women in your area can recommend a good MO.
