IDC and Mental Health
Hello, I've been recently Dx with IDC Grade 2, ER+, PR+, HER2+ as well as DCIS on left breast and also managing Major Depression Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and PTSD. I've had my crying episodes and everyone I have talked with says to have a positive attitude. In my experience having a positive attitude is…

Did your doctor talk about your Ki67 %
Hello - I have IDC Stage 2 (++-), and I am one week out from my bilateral mastectomy. My lymph Node pathology reports were posted online, and from what I can read, there is no cancer in my lymph nodes. However, my Ki67% - was reported at 43%. so I have a Ki67: 43%. Is that bad? Did your doctor put much stock into your Ki67…

Panicking Before Surgery
I am having so much anxiety and panic right now. Surgery is early next week for my double mastectomy. I have a lot to be grateful for. It was found early, in Stages 1-2, and is smallish still. But I am panicking over fear, and I get that. Also, the reality is setting in that I have to deal with this. Before, it was just…

Recurrence after Mastectomy, then positive margins
Hello, I am hoping to connect with people who might have a similar situation to mine, although I think (?) my situation might be on the rare side. Six years ago I was diagnosed with Stage 1B IDC. I am BRCA2. I did a double mastectomy with reconstruction (implants) and was told chemo/radiation not needed since my tumor was…

Can't Decide Between Lumpectomy or BM(x)
Age: 51 IDC stage 1 (possible2) right breast Estrogen Positive Tomorrow, I see my breast surgeon again, and I am supposed to share with him if I want to go for a Lumpectomy or mastectomy. If I did a mastectomy, I would do a double mastectomy. I have been thinking and thinking. In one way, it would be easier to do a…

2013 Survivors!!!
I was going to create this thread under the "Recovery, Renewal & Hope" thread, but then I decided that the IDC forum is our "home". We started this journey here as the "2012 Sisters" and grew, and grew, and grew. Although truly sad to see how many of us there are, each new member of our little family has been given the…

Did you spend the night in hospital after bilateral mastectomy
Did you spend the night in the hospital after your bilateral mastectomy? My surgeon said he would probably send me home, but it seems like an extensive surgery, so I'm wondering what others did. I am having reconstruction at a later time, not the same time as mastectomy. I am having a skin-sparring mastectomy with…

Hysterectomy Question
I am new here. I was diagnosed on 10/2023, IDC HR/PR+ HER2-. Stage 1A. Had Lumpectomy, Accelerated Partial Breast Radiation and on Tamoxifen. Due to some other issues I have, my doctors have decided I need a hysterectomy. Since my cancer is hormone positive, they said I might as well go ahead and get my ovaries out as…

DCIS lead to IDC, receptor status question

They did not get the receptor status on the 1st, so currently waiting for that feedback from provider. My question I have and just don't understand is, if on Tuesday…

Grade 3 long term survivors
Hi diagnosed last year with a primary breast cancer aggressive Grade 3 in two nodes. I wondered if anyone had long-term survivor stories. I'm terrified of secondary and have read lots of posts of survival but they tend to be stage 3 but grade 1 or maybe 2. Is there anyone with a Grade 3 in nodes with a positive story.…

I had a lympectomy 2 weeks ago, the findings were that it was not in my lymph nodes, her 2 negative, 4 mm, stage 1A, I am 69, my cancer is considered a lazy cancer with a low risk of recurrance and is not aggressive. My oncologist said I dont need to have hormone therapy, but with therapy it would give me more reassurance…

Single, living alone, no family or friends nearby. What's a girl to do?
Stage 1/Grade 1 IDC. I had decided DMX (no family history but why take the risk) but with all the info I've been reading, I'm wondering if lumpectomy is a better decision or should I just say goodbye to the girls, get reconstruction and go from there? My BFF is coming to town for the surgery next month and will stay for a…

Just diagnosed with IDC ER+ PR+ HER2+
I just was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma ER+ PR+ HER2+ on Dec 23rd, 2023 but still do not have an oncologist. Breast cancer survival
This breast cancer journey is so difficult to endure physically and psychologically. The one thing that helps me to feel better is to hear success stories of people who have survived long term. There is a " success stories" thread on here ( that I read frequently) but it is from over 10+ years ago. Let's share more recent…

Gray zones for everything
Hi, I have a case that’s full of gray areas. I’m 51, pre menopausal, extensive LVi, multi focal, bi lateral, high ki67 of 54% but low oncotype of 18. I am considered technically node free but had some isolated tumor cells in node found in breast. None in sentinel nodes. my situation makes all the doctors I’ve talked to…

I'm thinking about discontinuing all doctor visits.
I'm three years out, had stage 1, grade 2, lymph node negative, Oncotype 7 IDC with DCIS. I had a mastectomy and proceeded to go through a year of hell on hormonal meds until I stopped those. The doctors told me that until I reach year 5, I need to see my breast surgeon ever 6 months, my oncologist every 6 months, and my…

BRCA2 mutation, IDC and lumpectomy and sentinel node

Now waiting for pathology report and will do every 6 month surveillance. Have others…

Parathyroid disease and breast cancer
I keep on seeing posts that people have had these dual diagnoses; sometimes the parathyroid disease pre-dated the bc and sometimes the other way round. I am becoming convinced that the two are causally related, so am interested to see just how many of you have been affected. Many of us are getting osteoporotic and blaming…

Hormone Blocking Therapy
Hi all, Is there any alternatives to taking hormone blockers for 5 years? I plan to discuss this with my oncologist during our next appointment but want to gather some feedback, either way. I've never been compliant with medications and prefer not taking them. Any suggestions?

Tubular IDC?
Most of the discussion about the tubular sub category here are not recent. It’s a rare type occurring in 1-2% of breast cancers. My surgical pathology came back and I have a Grade 1, Stage 1 0.7 cm Tubular cancer. Wonder if anyone else here has/had the same? Wondering about current treatment protocols.

Introduction—Has it been hard to tell people?
Hi, I am newly diagnosed with IDC grade one. My doctors so far are optimistic about treatment and prognosis. My lumpectomy is scheduled for next week. I am nervous about the pathology report. I actually met with my surgeon on my 68th birthday. Happy birthday to me! Aside from my family, I’ve only told one other friend, so…

Getting overwhelmed by all the information -- lumpectomy in 2 days
Hi everyone, I'm so glad I found this site — just reading some of the posts has been helpful. I received my post-biopsy diagnosis through my online health portal (not a nice surprise first thing on a Saturday morning), so it's been a rollercoaster of emotions. My diagnosis was invasive ductal carcinoma, low grade, hormone…
