My oncologist recommended it when we were determining if I needed chemo to treat my cancer.  Luckily my score was low and in addition to the other factors of my tumor, chemo wasn't needed.  It will help you make an educated decision.

I had to ask my onc about getting oncotype testing for both of my invasive tumors.  He would not have had the tests run without  pushing for the information.  I am glad I did because the scores I got (16 and 8)  allowed me to opt of chemo, which he was recommending. 

Assuming you are node negative, you should ask your onc about the test if he has not brought it up.   

Initial BC dx with dcis & idc after lumpectomy & snb in 6/08. in 8/08 dx with multicentric bc (idc) after mri. had bilat mastecomy in 9/08 w/o reconstruction
Diagnosis: 2008, IDC, 1cm, Stage I, Grade 1, 0/19 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2-
