Life Insurance Question

denise,

I called the insurance company Wednesday.  They said they will have an adjustor call me within 3-5 days.  I will call them again Monday to start pestering.  Imagine, an adjustor like I'm a bad roof or something.  lol

Thanks for the help.

Life Insurance Question

Denise I was thinking I might give my oncologist a heads up.  He's at MD Anderson and I'm sure he's seen this form a gazillion times.  I wish it was like disability and an automatic approval with Stage 4.

Isn't it awful that I'm excited my doctor might sign a form saying I will die within the next 12 months?

Help-Fractured Hip

Hugs Luv,

Try not to read anything into their swift action.  They just want to make sure you are taken care of.  You would hate to wait and do something to your hip.

I really think that it takes a while longer for routine scans.  If the doctor wants you to get one to have a specific look at something they can get you in pretty quick.

Take care of yourself and be careful with all that driving in the snow!

Life Insurance Question

Denise,

Thanks for your response.  Did your oncologist have any problem signing the form?  I don't know why but I'm thinking my oncologist might balk.  I have no rational reason to think this other than he has been very conservative about other things.  I guess I"m just nervous since he's the only thing standing in the way.  I should hear from the adjustor soon.

Thanks again,

Watson

How Many Stage 4 Girls are getting SS disability..

I had never heard of that program where you can get full SSDI plus work as much as you want.  I thought that defeated the purpose.  But what do I know?  lol

Funny Movies

The Full Monty!  I went to see that in a theatre without having a clue what it was about.  OMG I laughed so hard.

I really like My Best Friends Wedding.  When they start singing at the restaurant...priceless!

One of my favorite movies is Love Actually.   Funny and sweet.  Pretty good soundtrack, too!

Life Insurance Question

What about those ads on TV for Coloniel Penn or whatever?  They say no one is denied.  I bet it's expensive and has loopholes but may be worth looking into.  I'm sure it's a burial type policy.

Most insurance companies will deny coverage if you've recently had BC much less a dx of stage IV.

Good luck LuAnn!

Life Insurance Question

I'm just wondering how they can say a person is or is not dying within the next 12 months?

This is a ten year term life policy that I took out in 2004.  The rider says I can take up to half now.  The remaining $ would be paid out when I die.

My insurance guy said he asked them, What if they come up with a cure and she outlives the policy? (ie 2014) The insurance company said no problem, it would not have to be paid back.

I'll keep you posted

Life Insurance Question

Hi,

I was just talking to my insurance guy.  He is actually a friend that I haven't told about my mets dx..  Anyhoo, I have a life policy with him.  He looked it up and said I had an Accelerated Death Benefit or some similarly awful named thing.  Apparently I can claim up to half of the benefit NOW since I am stage 4.  He kept using the word 'terminal' but isn't that the same?

An adjustor is supposed to call me within this next week to go over details, get my doctor info, etc.  He says the money will be tax free but the insurance co. can take up to 4% for actuary blah blah blah.

Has anyone ever used this benefit?  Or does someone have it and chose not to use it?  I'm sitting here cross legged on my bed trying to pay bills and not getting very far.  It's sounding pretty good to me.  Pay off some debt, take a vacay with the family?  I can make sure it's spent responsibly.  Left to my husband after my death it might all go to auto parts for his '61 Corvette!

Any thoughts?

Just for fun-- Let's talk hobbies

Hello,

Nothing as noble as your hobbies here!

I like to go 'bugging'.  I have a VW convertible and like to just drive around for hours and hours.  My neighbor says I might have 36,000 miles on it already but they're all cul-de-sac miles.  lol

I watch TV.  I'm addicted.  I make no aplogies.  I DVR everything on two different machines.  Old movies, reality series, you name it I watch it.  I rewatch a lot of it while chatting on live chat here at night.

Oh, and I like to stalk people on the internet.  Not like some weird celebrity stalker, just local stuff.  lol

That's me in a nutshell!

You know it's bad when...

I have two dogs that shed horribly.  There is dog hair everywhere on my floors.  I wait until it gathers in tumbleweed form and then send a kid to pick it up.

Angela and AlaskaDeb

We all like updates but that may not be the family's main concern at this time.  I'm sure they'll post when there's a change.

I hope they're both enjoying their families!  I read somewhere that Angela posts on the Young Survivors site.

Love and hugs,

OK, Girls, I Need Opinions

Hey Aus,

I sent you an email but I'll say it again.  It sucks big time that you have to continue the wait and worry process but it really sounds like just a dense breast issue doesn't it?

Huge hugs to you and MB.

Tell MB I'll make her a voodoo booby if she wants!

Teeth misaligned - Is it a SE of chemo?

Steph,

I've never heard of it either.  Could it be from your brain radiation?  I am totally guessing.

Hugs,
