2005 ROCK-TOBER CHEMO GIRLS

Congrats Graycie on the new joy in your life, you deserve some happiness!

Tracy in Seattle- I know what you mean about people "forgetting" what we are going through. I finished IV chemo- high dose, dose dense FEC x 6 and high dose, dose dense taxol x 6 (or was it only 4,that's my chemo brain) on March 23. I finished twice daily radiation to chest and neck with oral xeloda on May 23. In between radiation appts I volunteered at my daughter's school and I would mention how tired I was and you wouldn't believe how many people would ask why. One was my "good" friend. It used to piss me off that she would work 3 hours a day and go home and take a nap and complain how she is just exhausted. Not that folks without cancer aren't allowed to be tired and take naps, but come on. I would have loved a nap but wanted to keep myself busy. During chemo I had to stay away from the school and I felt so useless. Volunteering got my spirits up. I try to remember that most folks aren't mean, they just are busy with their own lives and sometimes forget what you are going through. Still makes you want to throw things at them though. Sending you cyberhugs.

Inflammatory breasr cancer

Hey there! I was diagnosed with IBC last Sept. I was stage IIIc, with mets to the supraclav, internal mammary and axillary nodes. After 10 months of chemo, surgery, and radiation, I am thrilled to say I am NED!!! I was given no evidence of disease clearance three days ago. If I can do it, anyone can! Sending you enourmous pink cyber hugs that it is not IBC for you, but if it is, know you will get through it!
Love,
Michele

Worst Thing Someone Said To You?

My mother-in-law said I deserved to have cancer because I am not a submissive wife, and I have allowed my son to disrespect his father. When I was upset about my PET scan results - the cancer is "back" in my supra and infraclavicular nodes (9), my "friend" said "well how do you think I feel, I am so worried that I could get cancer and may not be here for my daughter." Everything is a competition with that woman, I have since distanced myself from her and now only allow non-toxic people in my inner circle. I agree with Hattie that most folks are at a loss and mean well but their statements just come out wrong. I do believe there's only one way to take my mil's comments though.
Prayers and hugs to you all

Starting chemo Sept 05

Peggy, congrats on being finished with chemo. Thanks for the lymphedema advice. My dr said no sleeping on that side anymore, it was my favorite position, and no lifting anything over 5 lbs! A gallon of milk weighs 8! I keep forgetting too as I am right handed. Time to become ambidextrous (sp). I can still fence, it actually will be good for me! My sabre weighs just over 1 lb.

Sandra- wish I could visit you, always wanted to go to the UK. My tree looks great btw. Have a fantastic holiday!

Tina- when do you get your other drain(s) out? How much does it hurt? Mine will have to wait until Monday, still have over 50cc's.

Take care all!

Starting chemo Sept 05

Hi everyone,
It's been a while since my first (and last post). I had a RtMRM on Nov.28th. I still have the drains (yuk) b/c I am still putting out 75 cc's a day (disgusting). I cannot wait until they come out and I can drive and bathe.
I had 7 out of 14 lymph nodes test positive. When the drains come out, do you develop lymphadema right away?
Having drains did not keep me from climbing a ladder to decorate our 9 ft tall tree. My hubby said he'd do it, but NOT my way, so I said "forget you, I'll do it myself!"

Liezel, Hope all is well with you. Let us know how the tax goes. What is the typical schedule of taxotere?

Tina, my TX sister,
How are you doing?

Take care all,
Michele with one L

Starting chemo Sept 05

Hey all, hope everyone is feeling better. I will finish FEC, then start either taxotere or Taxol. How do the docs decide which one to give, and should I insist on taxotere? I was also under the impression that the tax was easier than the FEC. Am I to expect the worse? Now I am scared. The FEC hasn't been that bad, I mean I have handled it well. Anyone have any comments or suggestions?
Take care ladies.

Starting chemo Sept 05

Hey all, this is my first post, but I started chemo on Sept.20th. I had my fourth round of FEC on Nov.1st. I will have a mastectomy on Monday, the 28th, then 2 more rounds of dense dose FEC, then 6 rounds of Taxol or taxotere, then radiation twice daily for 35 days. I have inflammatory, triple negative. I am 37 yrs old and have two children 12, and 5. Anyone else have inflammatory?
Have a great Thanksgiving and God Bless you all.
Michele
