Inspiring stage 3c stories

Are there any longterm stage 3c survivors.  I am 2.5 years out and am so thankful.  I went to see my surgeon today and she was so encouraging.  It would be nice to keep hearing encouraging stories.Wink

Oliva Newton John

Someone just reminded that Olivia Newton John is celebrating her 15th anniversary of being breast cancer free. Does anyone remember her stage.  I thought she was stage 3 something.

That is wonderful that you are a longterm survivor.  Are there other stories out there for longterm survivors with stage 3c breast cancer.

Lymphedema General Questions

I have a friend who also is a breast cancer survivor. She had 15 cancerous lymph nodes and a lumpectomy. She has a really bad case of lymphedema and has an infection in her breast as a result. It has been suggested that she have a masectomy. Is this normal if there is an infection due to lymphodema. Thanks

Scan results in- mostly good news!

I had a pet scan a week ago Saturday and have not heard back from my doctor. How soon after a scan does a doctor usually contact the patient. In the past I think the response time was faster. Thanks

Breast Cancer spreading to the liver and bones

I have had an mri and cat scan recently. Told spots I had previously on liver are now supsicious. According to mri and cat scan there has been a slight growth to one spot. I just had a pet scan. My liver functions and markers are good as of 5 weeks ago. Has anyone had a pet scan and have the results indicated no cancer. Even after cat scan and mri came back with suspicious results. And do people live with liver mets for a significant period of time. I am just so scared about this whole thing.

Metastatic or not?

In the past I had hypodense spots and a hemangioma after having a ct and mri. This was when I originally was diagnosed with stage 3c breast cancer. I just took a ct and mri scan and now they are saying I have 3 suspicious spots and a cyst. I now have to take a pet scan.

Metastatic or not?

I am so far a stage 3 breast cancer survivor for approximately 2 years. I had cat scans and mri's that showed some suspcious spots to my liver. Now I have to take a pet scan. The doctor said it may be cancer and may not be. Has anyone ever had suspicious spots on their liver after breast cancer and the spots weren't cancerous.

I could use some encouraging words please

I don't know. Maybe as time goes on it becomes more routine and less worrisome. I had a cat scan and now a mri is scheduled for next week on my liver. However the impression I got from my oncologist is that they just want to keep a watchful eye on what is going on. I have had so far in the last 2 years 3 cat scans and one mri.

I could use some encouraging words please

I was diagnosed with stage3c breast cancer with 21 lymph nodes involved. The diagnosis was in 3/05. Had a masectomy and chemo. I had lobular breast cancer. All my scans in the past were clear with hemangiomas on my liver and also had some hypodense lesion. However the several scans I had were normal. I recently had a ct scan of my liver and was told that there are suspicious lesions on the liver. I was told to get an MRI of the liver as well. I had this in the past and everything was fine. I am really worried now because this time the lesions they found are suspicious. I hope this doesnt mean that i have mets to my liver I am freaking out. Has anyone had this experience before.

Success Stories!

I know someone who is a stage 3c survivor for 10 years. She had something like 40 positive lymph nodes. So there is hope. I pray for all of us that more and more advances continue to be made so that we can all be long term survivors. I myself am a stage 3c survivor with 21 positive nodes. I was diagnosed in Feb. of 2005. I hope to be here for many years to come.
