CMF QuestionAnnie, good luck with treatment today. Arms around you that you will do well, and everyone else having treatment this week. Candie, glad to see you posting too. I can't seem to find a lot of the boards we used when we were first diagnosed so am glad to find a familiar name. I think as we get further out from treatment, we tend not to check back too often. I am still looking for the chemo gals from January 2006. RitaJean, I have decided not to stress too much about going for checkups. I used to get kinda caught up in them, but as you get further away, it sort seems unreal that you even had it. At least for me. Good luck to everyone this week and next. Will check back later. CMF QuestionI totally agree with Anniebelle. I also used Nioxxin....plus all Redken products and they worked wonders. Plus, I didn't overwash. A little oil is good. Rae Dx 10/21/2005, ILC, 1cm, Stage I, Grade 1, 0/1 nodes |

CMF QuestionWow, I see we have a lot of new CMFer's. It has been a while since I have been on. Sorry you all have to join our board, but there is wonderful information shared on this site. I just got back from my Oncologist check up this morning and everything is going well. Hard to believe I am almost 2 complete years away from my last chemo. You girls will all get there. I can't believe how the time has flown. I basically did the same chemo as Ritajean (lumpectomy, 6 CMF chemo, rads and am now on Aromisin). If affects everyone differently; I was one of the lucky ones....no nausea, just some hair loss, constipation. Just popping in to wish everyone well and let you know I'm doing good and there is an end. Rae Dx 10/21/2005, ILC, 1cm, Stage I, Grade 1, 0/1 nodes |

CMF QuestionCarol, I too had the steroid and anti-nauseau put in my drip before the CMF, then I had a prescription for Compazzine if I needed it for home. I guess I was one of the lucky ones that did not get sick.....I have no clue why. My doctor I think made sure of it and kept telling me how well I was doing. Don't get worried about getting sick, there is enough on your plate just getting to the treatment. Again, everyone is different. I also ate snack crackers during the chemo and chewed on ice which I don't know if that helped or not. I can't believe it has been 2 years for me already and I am doing well. I now sometimes forget I even had BC....... Good luck to you all it CMF is very doable. Rae 1.5 CM, ILC, Clear Margins, Stage 1, Lumpectomy, 6 Doses CMF, Tamoxifen (1 year) and now on Aromisin |

ILC pollI was diagnosed with ILC in 10/2005; 1.5 centimeter tumor. Had MRI showing no other signs of lump involvement. Opted for lumpectomy with sentinel node biopsy (no node involvement), followed by chemo (CMF), radiation and hormone therapy (Aromisin). We have to trust you decision. So far everything is good with all of my tests and it has been 2 years. Rae |

CMF QuestionWas hard to find....doesn't seem like the beginning of this thread was when I was just starting treatment. Yes, I had 6 doses of CMF, followed by rads. Actually, rads was almost as bad for me as chemo as my skin opened up so rads for me was a really long drawn out affair. Then, followed up with Tamoxifen for 5 months....couldn't stand it. As chemo threw me into instant menopause, my oncologist started me on Aromison in June. No side effects except for a little hair thinning. Everyone hang in there. Rae |

Tests, Treatments & Side Effects + Hormonal Therapy - Before, During and After, Created: Dec 10, 2007 03:55 pm
Tamoxifen and High Blood PressureI was on Tamoxifen for one year. My blood pressure used to run anywhere from 115/65 to 122/70. While being on Tamoxifen it ran anywhere from 140/70 to 155/90. I asked my doctors if tamoxifen raised blood pressure and they said "it really shouldn't". Well, I went off Tamox in July and went on Aromasin. Funny thing is at my last oncologist appointment, my blood pressure was 120/65. (Plus, I put on 7 pounds in 6 monhs). He said, well, I guess maybe in your system, the Tamox did raise your blood pressure. And it is still running normal. I will agree that in some people, it will raise the blood pressure. Rae |

aromasin + hair growthWow, I too have noticed hair thinning from Aromasin. I just thought it was from winter here in Minnesota.......I have been taking it since July and noticed hair thinning about a month after taking it. This has been my only side effect from it. Thanks for letting me know I wasn't going crazy. Rae |

CMF QuestionWow, I haven't been on for quite a while. I am sorry to see so many postings but this is the best place for questions.
I was having CMF last year this time (6 doses) then followed with radition. So far I am doing good and doesn't seem like it have been a whole year already. Hugs to all of you. Rae - 1.5 ILC, lumpectomy, CMF, 33 Radiation. |
