did you have symptoms relating to recurrence diagKatie,
I thought that if it was arthritis that the pain would come and go. Initiatlly it did and now I am living with the pain 24/7 since 7 July. I think the pain is getting worse and I also have burning pain in my other leg. My oncologist said that he is not concerned about the burning pain in other leg and recommended that I see my primary doctor if it is not better in two weeks which will be next Tuesday. |

did you have symptoms relating to recurrence diagThe doctor called and the good news is that my blood tests, MRI of the Brain and my bone scan are good. However, the xray of the hip and thigh show a thickening on the femur so he is ordering an MRI. My husband said what can the thickening be from did you ask the doctor! I did not ask the doctor because I guess it can be from many things what do I know! Mu husband is worried and I am too! Anyone have an x-ray that showed thickening of the femur?

ASCO recommends NO tests for BC follow-upI do not have mets. And it burns me up this topic. my oncologist is of the school that we will give you a breast exam well I had bilateral masectomies with tram flap reconstruction what breasts? Also I found my BC not the doctors (i had to tell them where to find it), mammo was non-cancerous but fine needle aspiration was cancerous.
I am of the school the sooner they find the mets the quicker it can be treated and the longer my survival will be. |

It's official-I've joined the clubJill,
I am so sorry to here this news. I was around 9 when I was told of my mothers breast cancer (initial diagnosis) and this was about 35 years ago. I think that each child is different on how they handle the news. My son handled my diagnosis alot harder than my daughters. He kept alot of his feelings inside even though my husband and I encouraged him to speak with people about it, I think he did speak with his friends and sisters. I am glad that you are finding the right balance of pain relief. I think that medicine has gotten much better than in my mother's time. I am here if you need me! |

did you have symptoms relating to recurrence diagI had tests done yesterday. The past couple of months the pain in left my hip/thigh came and went. Then on 7 July the pain came and has not went away, it is with me all day nothing makes it feel better (position or pain meds). The buring in my right lower leg started on 10 July and has not gone away. In the past few months I also had a couple of episodes where I was dizzy and nausea. The doctor order a Brain MRI, xray of hips and leg and a bone scan along with blood work. I had all the tests yestday (18 Jul) and I am waiting for the results (which could take a couple of days). I have to admit I was very anxiuos on my way to the tests yesterday. Today I keep thinking ok if it is not mets then what the devil is it and can those tests reveal what is causing this to happen! I am a hard stick with needles and the injection for the bone scan he had to fish for a vein, on the MRI they had to do an injection part way through the test, they called a nurse who stuck me 2x then they had to call a doctor who finally was able to inject me.

did you have symptoms relating to recurrence diagI went to the doctor yesterday and he ordered blood work and bone scans and MRI. He wants to make sure it is not mets. The pain is not below my knee. I have not been diagnosed with mets just worried. I am BRAC2. My mother died at age 44 of BC and she had bilateral breast cancer. I will keep you posted.

Trying hard to lose the pounds!!!!!!!!!Well the atkins diet helped me not to put on pounds during the holiday's. I did eat a few bad things and had lots of celebrationaly drinks but no weight gain or loss. I am now back on track and I hope to introduce exercise into my regiment this year.
Lets all take a deep breath and hold hands as we journey down the lower weight path. WE CAN DO IT! |

Trying hard to lose the pounds!!!!!!!!!I can't exercise at the moment either that is why I decided to go on Atkins and I have lost weight without bein hungry. The thing is that you need to stick to the diet and no cheating. I am now in menopause and the weight is real easy to put on. The aktins diet has allowed me to be happier about the way I look and believe it or not the way I feel. I hope that soon in 2005 I can go back to exercising.
Good luck. |

Trying hard to lose the pounds!!!!!!!!!Ok back from an all inclusive vacation, Thanksgiving and NY breastcancer.org get together. Guess what the Adkins is working. I have not gained a pound through all the cheating. I am back on the wagon today, but Christmas is around the corner and tonight I am making chocolate peanut butter fudge for my husband's work holiday party.

Trying hard to lose the pounds!!!!!!!!!Ok am I the only one who is not on WW. I am on atkins and have successfully lost 16 pounds. I have to admit I was sceptical at first but it is working and I am sticking to it. The thing is that next week is Thanksgiving and boy if I open the carb door not sure I can close it as quick as I should not to mention the wine and beer. Also the following week I am going to Jamacia with my husband to celebrate our anniversary (he gave me tickets last April for our anniversary).

Trying hard to lose the pounds!!!!!!!!!Ok believe it or not I have stayed on the Atkins plan for 4 1/2 weeks and O have lost 14 pounds! I am so happy I was even able to stay on the plan when I went to a wedding which was very hard!
I am so excited that the old me is coming out from this extra weight that came on after my b/c diagnosis, and treatment. I can't say that this is for everyone because it does take a lot of will power. But I figure I am still getting to eat and my treats have been decaf flavored coffee sometime with a bit of whipped cream. Did I tell you that I am going to Jamaica the week after thanksgiving! My husband gave me the trip for a anniversary present earlier this year. So dieting will have a payoff in that I will not be causing aftershocks (LOL) on the beach while on vacation. Mel Mel |

Trying hard to lose the pounds!!!!!!!!!OK I am back on track after being off track for a while. I have taken the path of least resistance in that my body has so many aches and pains on a given day that regular exercising is not always possible.
Last Sat I started on the Akins diet and have lost 5 pounds and I feel great! |

Trying hard to lose the pounds!!!!!!!!!Ok I got my blood test results back and I am normal. So I am now joining the ranks of the dieters. My daughter is getting married this Aug and I want to be at least 20 pounds lighter ok I will settle for 10.
So I started my diet today not tomorrow. However yesterday I celebrated my blood tests results with a large swirl ice cream cone dipped in chocolate from Dairy Queen. I almost felt like a kid again when it started to drip down my hands and get on my shirt what a hoot. So I am off to the diet a day and exercise a night club. Hurry up I am on your heals LOL Mel |
